Rare Lionesss Posted June 6, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 6, 2015 To those familiar with FLL. Staying Friday before our cruise at the Embassy suites. Looking at some of the restuarants and see that BIMINI Boatyard is in walking distance to the hotel. Is this restuarant a good choice? We want to enjoy good seafood, but not looking for the five star experience. We are casual people however want more than just ripping apart crab legs. Looking at something like-surf and turf, or shrimp alfredo. -Any suggestions for a nice restuarant with in walking distance or even one that is on the water taxi route? -Also should we make reservations? Thanks
Bernie by the sea Posted June 6, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 6, 2015 Bimini is a good choice. Been awhile since I was there, but good choices and n outrageous prices.
DanJ Posted June 6, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 6, 2015 Heard good things about South Port Raw Bar, which is directly north of the hotel a couple short blocks. website is http://www.southportrawbar.com and they have menus on there.
cincicruisers Posted June 7, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 7, 2015 Bimini was good but it was pricey. Would not return again. Good but not great.
Rare JamesEM Posted June 7, 2015 #5 Share Posted June 7, 2015 I would recommend the South Port Raw Bar, good food and friendly staff, it is not fine dining, little on the rustic side, but well worth a visit, also I would ask for outside table. mollyanne Posted June 7, 2015 #6 Share Posted June 7, 2015 Kelly's Landing - about 1 block from the Embassy Suites. Casual dining with FRESH New England seafood. We have eaten there many times and it's always very good.
morningstarme Posted June 7, 2015 #7 Share Posted June 7, 2015 We ate at Kelly's Landing during our stay at the Embassy Suites. We are from Maine and the food was better than some of the seafood meals we have had at home. Service was fast and the food was delicious.
royalcruz Posted June 7, 2015 #8 Share Posted June 7, 2015 Bimini Boatyard is much nicer than the other restaurants mentioned, yet still casual (smarter casual or resort wear). And yes, it's walking distance to Embassy. Sometimes the food and service is better than other times. It's not a chain so it's not always consistent, which I think accounts for the inconsistent reviews, but I've never had a bad meal there. For lunch I like the Diane salad and for dinner I like the snapper Viequez. I don't eat steak or shellfish, so I can't tell you if it's good there. BlueHerons Posted June 8, 2015 #9 Share Posted June 8, 2015 In this order these are my favorites: Kellys Landing Bimini Boatyard Southport Raw Bar For me eating at Bimini Boatyard is all about the experience. It is about being outside and eating outside in a beautiful setting. It really is nice. Kellys has the best food.
DeadPhish Posted June 8, 2015 #10 Share Posted June 8, 2015 Another vote for Southport Raw Bar We want to enjoy good seafood, but not looking for the five star experience. We are casual people however want more than just ripping apart crab legs. This is the perfect description of the place. I recommend sitting out on the back dock. fireofficer5 Posted June 10, 2015 #11 Share Posted June 10, 2015 Just a point, there's almost no fresh florida caught seafood in south florida resturants.

neptune18 Posted June 11, 2015 #13 Share Posted June 11, 2015 Another vote for Kelly's. Been to Bimini years ago and didn't love it. We also liked Coconuts very much although not sure if if walkable from ES.

BlueHerons Posted August 8, 2015 #15 Share Posted August 8, 2015 Would you know if any of them serve peel and eat shrimp? [emoji494] I'm not sure about Kelly's because I always get either lobster, the lobster roll, or fried oysters. Southport has peel and eat and so does Quarterdeck across the street (across Cordova not 17th Street). Bimini Boatyard is closed until mid November and I have no idea what their new menu is going to look like.
