This is a map of the port in Juneau.

This is Juneau Tuesday 6/23/15 from AIS Marinetraffic.com. The blue ship shapes represent ships that are in port today. There is no ship at the Alaska Steamship dock; Millie is at the Cruise Terminal dock. NCL Pearl is at the AJ dock. There is no ship today at the Franklin St. dock, although it looks like there is, because there was a Princess Grand class ship there when Google Earth took the picture. that is where Princess always docks and where Crown is scheduled to be on 6/29.

This is what it looks like from the Mt. Roberts tram. Ships in the picture are left to right: Diamond Princess, Oosterdam, Statendam.

On 6-29 -15 Juneau will be docked at

the Franklin Dock. Not the last dock

but next to the last.

You can walk to the tram and to town

but for some it could be to long. Should be

shuttles for $2 or $3 .

Of course the tram is closer, stores around. Then

going into town like to the Red Dog Saloon and

more shopping is a longer walk.

Hope this helps.

The Star and the Grand are using the AJ dock this year which is full mile somewhat uphill to the tram and what is the beginning of the town. There used to be a short cut but that has been closed. The road does not have sidewalks and some people may find it just a bit far. There is a shuttle but there is usually a line up for the buses when the ship first docks.

At Franklin dock, are the vendors there from the bus to go out to Mendenhall or do you have to go to tram area to catch the bus? Also, if you are dropped off in town from an excursion, is there a shuttle that will take you back to Franklin dock?

I'm not sure where we docked or where you'll dock, but ...

Just in case you dock where we did on June 1, be on the lookout in the trees near the tramway for about a dozen bald eagles roosting just feet away as you cruise by into the dock. An awesome sight, but unfortunately my camera wasn't handy till too late.
