Liberty- Traveling to Bermuda without a passport.

Recommended Posts

Anyone recently travel on the Liberty to Bermuda using a birth certificate and drivers license combo? RCI web site says its OK vs US Passport site says passport is required. Any hassles with US customs on the return without a passport? Appreciate the help.

As long as you are making stop in Bermuda by cruise ship, and you leave and return to the same US port, and you were born in the US, then a BC and DL are fine for ID.

NONE of the Caribbean/Bermuda/Bahama ports require a passport from cruise passengers. Your BC and DL is perfectly fine.

As long as the ship returns to the same port. This above statement is true.

Yes, and as long as you're comfortable with the (granted unlikely, but possible) potentiality of having to get yourself home from Bermuda not by ship (medical disembarkment, injury while in port, missing the ship) and you can absorb the extra cost while you wait for a passport, which even expedited still takes a couple of days.

It's really all about your comfort level. For me, I won't cross the border in any way without a passport. I'd rather have it with me and never need it than not have it and be stuck somewhere trying to get a new one.

Actually none of those ports require a passport for US citizens, even if the ship left from the US and returns to another port, it's the US that requires a passport in that instance.
