dawgman Posted September 24, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 24, 2005 we went ahead and made our final payment to sail the Grandeur from New Orleans Dec.17 because the travel agent said they(RCCL) would have to give us the option to change our plans.....has this type of situation happened to anyone and did you receive a full refund plus some alternative cruise options? kitty9 Posted September 24, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 24, 2005 Your travel agent is completly wrong on this, making you pay in full so far in advance. Even if you only had a deposit and the cruise was changed because NO is no longer available as an embarkation port, you're covered using just your deposit. Now, if you need to cancel your cruise, or you don't want to alternative RCCI would offer, it's going to be more complicated getting all your money back, instead of getting just the deposit refunded. What will happen is RCCI will make alternate plans for your cruise, if NO is still not an option, and they will inform you of the change and probably offer a couple of options. You can cancel the cruise, with no penalty or still go on the new itinerary and they MIGHT give you a small on board credit because of the change. They are not obligated to give you anything because it clearly states in your cruise contract that itinerary changes can happen at any time without the cruise line having to give you anything. Lightsluvr Posted September 24, 2005 #3 Share Posted September 24, 2005 Just curious why your TA would request final payment 90 days out from the cruise... Mine requires full payment 60 days out for 7 day and shorter, 75 days for the longer ones...I think that's the same as the cruise line...Any chance the TA is "floating" the money? wrp96 Posted September 24, 2005 #6 Share Posted September 24, 2005 Dec. 17th is considered a holiday cruise so final payment is due 90 days out. I'm cruising on the 18th and my final payment was due a couple of weeks ago.
