There was a waiter with a tray of drinks as we boarded the Viking Serenade in 1992.

 

I thought, "How wonderful!"

 

And then he asked for my Seapass card and I returned the drink to his tray. Not free.

 

Our very first cruise was with a company/ship called "Festival Mistral"

 

Band playing on arrival, gloved wait staff with free "champagne" and then uniformed staff to TAKE EVERY GUEST to their cabin.

 

Sadly, never happened since - so I guess our very first cruise really was special.

 

I'd love to know where that ship ended-up - "Festival Mistral"

 

UPDATE: took me 5 minutes to find her (why didnt I think before lol) - http://www.costacruises.co.uk/gb/costa_neoriviera.html - I dont remember it being THAT small
