mykeb14 Posted October 2, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 2, 2015 We leave on Sunday on the Imagination and was just looking at the weather and it is calling for rain on Monday. Since this is a tender port and if its raining I can imagine that we could possibly miss Catalina if the water is to rough to tender. Does anyone know if they could possibly port in San Diego for the day or will it just be an extra sea day?
joeyancho Posted October 2, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 2, 2015 Forecast is for a chance of rain. Which means you might get drizzle. Since Avalon is a sheltered harbor, it would have to be quite a storm for the ship to skip it. I'm sure you will be going there. If they skip it I highly doubt you will go to San Diego, never heard of that. You will just get another sea day. But plan for Catalina.
SadieN Posted October 2, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 2, 2015 (edited) If they can anchor they will. Carnival is now using the old Catalina Ferries. Many times larger than the taxis. The ferries hold 270-399 pax, the taxis held 40 'very friendly' pax. One time the seas were rough they let pax off the ship. If the ship's horn was blown you were told to get back to the tender. poker2pla Posted October 2, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 2, 2015 When you tender in rent a golf cart just to the left of the pier. Great way to see the island.

sanmarcosman Posted October 2, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 2, 2015 Last year on Imagination they switched to a sea day on the second day due to high winds at Avalon. We went to Avalon the third day and Ensenada the fourth day.
USNUZULOOSE Posted October 3, 2015 #7 Share Posted October 3, 2015 I love Catalina also, but if the weather is bad enough they may not tender. When we went it was a little rocky but they still did tendering. But I would settle for another sea day.
