chicagopaul Posted December 8, 2015 Author #153 Share Posted December 8, 2015 We enjoyed sail away from Cozumel yesterday by the sunset bar with some new friends we recently met. Johnny Mantra was playing by the sunset bar as we pulled away. It was a perfect sail away and then it started to rain a bit. Yesterday we had dinner at Qsine. We of course ate way too much but what else can you expect from Qsine. We had a nice table for two by the window. Even though it is dark outside and you can't see anything, the tables by the window give you more space. We had the Lava Crab, Sushi Lollipops, The Eggrolls, and some giant box of Mediterranean food that comes out in a box the size of a suitcase. Everything was excellent. I vote highly for the sushi lollipops covers in Doritos and the Eggrolls. But the lava crab was incredible. Imagine a crab cake on steroids. We had a small dessert and quickly left feeling like we were shout to explode! We attended the Indulgence show in the sky lounge which is part of the SocietyX floating nightclub. This night was absolutely packed. It was standing room only owned they had lots of bar servers walking around. We didn't want to drink as we were letting our stomachs settle but we were asked several times if we wanted anything. Hosting the night club was Alexander and his assistant Jamie. After the show we visited Chairul at the Molecular bar and then went into the casino. We played for a little while on the machines (double points after midnight) and then we went to bed. I won, Edward lost. Although he lost with money I gave him so I guess I was the real loser right? Today it is hot! Finally a nice hot day to lay by the pool. A bit too warm for Edward as he is in the shade. Today is Grand Cayman. As I mentioned in a previous post, we were on our way to grand cayman from Cozumel when the captain announced we would need to turn around due to a medical evacuation. A few hours later the captain announced the medical evacuation was no longer necessary. One bartender said that was because the cost guard met the ship. Others said it was because the person passed. My hope is for the first one, but best wishes to the family. We arrived in the Caymans on time. We were on the first tender boat which started filling up around 10:20/10:30. The waters were a little too rough on one side of the ship so they had to switch tendering to the opposite side of the ship. Once in the tender the waters were very calm. No problems. We did not book any excursions as you know we rarely do that. We just walked around town, check out some watches and picked up wifi to quickly check work emails. We have been to grand cayman before. The town is clean and people are friendly. There are plenty of places to buy high end jewelry and watches so if that is what you're in the market for you are in luck! We also saw some nice, small bars and restaurants in town and near the water. The nightclub for tonight is in Cellar Masters. This is the nightclub I reported about last week that had the cage dancers. I'm looking forward to this as I know it will be very crowded tonight (well I assume it will be) given the crowd last night.

chicagopaul Posted December 12, 2015 Author #157 Share Posted December 12, 2015 Haha I will be in this cabin on December 12th. Thanks for the video. We left the cabin in good shape for you! Debarkation was a breeze. No problems with customs. Very short line for a cab. Only had to wait a few minutes. We had a wonderful time and wish you a great cruise. Stop by the molecular bar and say hi to Chairul and Johnny for us. I'll give a full review and will upload all the photos and videos in a day or two. chicagopaul Posted December 17, 2015 Author #161 Share Posted December 17, 2015 Hope you didn't forget about us. Oh I definitely haven't! Just slowly adjusting back to reality...ugh! I'm almost done writing my review. Just finished a few things for work and I'm going to get this posted in the next couple of hours. I will post it in a separate thread but will put the link here as well. Currently I have 10 full pages written in a word document, so it definitely is not a short review! Sorry Muffin Posted January 6, 2016 #165 Share Posted January 6, 2016 I'm enjoying your review. Currently I'm planning of taking a Carribbean cruise with a POC in Barbados. Don't ask why I want to see Barbados, because I don't know, I just do. I'm reading all the reviews I can to see which ship I want to book on based on itinerary and cost. I hope to go some time during the period after Thanksgiving and before Christmas. How is the weather during this time? Have a nice cruise. illiniwahoo Posted January 16, 2016 #166 Share Posted January 16, 2016 Will be on the Reflection in less than two months! Thanks for the great review. One quick question on the time zones. This is the first Celebrity cruise that I've been on that doesn't appear to be changing to local time zones:(. The note on the first day of the Celebrity today says "The local time in Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, and St. Marteen is one hour earlier". I understand this to mean if it shows that we dock at 8am, it will actually be 7am local time. However, when I google what time is it right now in Miami and St. Thomas, all the wold clock websites I checked said that if Miami is 8am, the time in St. Thomas is 9am. Which is correct?? We try to book all excursions privately, so it really matters to us. Thanks to anyone who can assist.

The Celebrity Today that I saw said the local time would be "1 hour ahead of ship's time". So 8.00am on the ship would be 9.00am in port.
kathynorth Posted January 16, 2016 #168 Share Posted January 16, 2016 We were recently on the Reflection. Ship time remained the same throughout the cruise. It was 1 hr earlier than port time, so we needed to plan accordingly.
ericopia Posted January 17, 2016 #169 Share Posted January 17, 2016 Just be aware that the date of your sailing matters: if I recall, San Juan, St. Thomas and St. Maarten don't observe Daylight Saving Time, so as of March 13 this year, their local time (Atlantic Standard Time) would be the same as U.S. Eastern Daylight Time (until the end of U.S. Daylight Saving Time in the fall). I sometimes use timeanddate.com to check local time against homeport time on a given date.
