Starfish10 Posted January 7, 2016 #27 Share Posted January 7, 2016 ar1950, thanks for posting the recipe for the Black and Blue onion soup. Loved it when we had it in the Crown Grill. :)
elliair Posted January 7, 2016 #28 Share Posted January 7, 2016 I checked the menu everyday for the French Onion Soup on the Island Princess Panama Canal 12/2015 and it wasn't anywhere on the menu. I was really disappointed. We did not eat in the MDR if it wasn't available. Sorely disappointed.

Rare Woobstr112G Posted January 7, 2016 #30 Share Posted January 7, 2016 No the Crown's is Black and Blue French onion soup and is quite superior. The MDR is mass produced French onion soup which is still good, but definitely not the same. Which is oh so good.....:):):) Bob

skf Posted January 10, 2016 #32 Share Posted January 10, 2016 Maybe someone could put in a word with the Maitre-d on their next cruise? I'm sailing next October, so maybe the issue will be setttled by then. Steve
Marlster Posted January 10, 2016 #33 Share Posted January 10, 2016 Recipe is similar to the one I use, I add two TBSP of butter and white wine instead of Jack. Have tried it twice in main dining room always reminded me of warmed over dishwater. Just call me a soup snob, small batches made at home are always better. Although being away from the everyday grind and on a cruise even makes mediocre soup taste great.:D I agree with tasting like dish water. The secret is to carmelize the onions (which they dont do), never order it anymore.
