How many people can be seated at a table on FOS?

Recommended Posts

We are a group of 15 going on the Freedom of the Seas on Jan. 15th 2017. Just booked this cruise and wanted to see how many people can be seated together at a single table on the this ship? Any imput would be great. This is my first cruise on Royal and have sailed on Carnival 7 times with biggest table there being 8 usually. Thanks in advance.

Hiya - for a group of 15 I would suggest 2 or even 3 smaller tables. Everyone can switch around each night, thus being able to visit and socialize with everyone. :) In a group that large, you can only hear the nearest people to you. A larger table makes things more difficult, so smaller might be a good idea.

We had 13 people on a 14 top at Thanksgiving aboard FOTS.

It might be possibe to squeeze on a 15th if you asked, we were comfortable with 13 not sure if 15 would be too much though.

The table in question was laid out from the foot of the stairs towards the captains table on Deck 3.

There was a second table setup the same way next to us.

As stated above the better option might be to have a couple of tables next to each other.

For what its worth, deck 3 is now MDT on Freedom. Not sure what the OP has booked.

On a family cruise we had a table of 11. It was a bit cramped, but it was worth being able to dine with the whole group of us.

I have not cruised Freedom with that large a group yet (we were only 10 people on that ship) but just went on Brilliance with a family group of 24. In that case they set up 3 tables of 8 all together.

One caveat - not a big deal, but if you want to "round robin" between tables, everyone at the tables needs to prepay their gratuities. At least this was the case on Brilliance. That way none of the service staff get "stiffed" as a result of people moving around.

In my experience, any more than 8-10 at a single table starts to get very difficult to enjoy conversation (the other end of the table is just too far away!).

Have a great time! Cruising in a bigger group can be lots of fun!

Maybe I have my decks confused (or maybe they switched it up since Thanksgiving). We were on the bottom deck (i thought deck 3) and MTD was up on the top deck (I thought Deck 5).

It probably depends on the number of people with MTD. During our Nov 2015 sailing it was deck 5 as well. But if they allow a lot of people to have MTD, they could switch things around and make deck 3 MTD (more seating space).
