Hey all. Just returned from our BOTS cruise last week. It was me and dh first cruise and it was awesome! I knew I would love it but dh was hesitant. He said he didn't know why we would pay to be stuck on a ship with a bunch of young drunk people. Hes 30! Not like we werent going to be drinking ourselves. But boy did his opinion change. Every day we were on the ship he kept thanking me for booking this vacation. Told me it was the best vacation Hes ever been on. And promptly booked our next cruise the day after we got home! And as for all those young drunk people? He apologized for stereotyping after we met the cutest sweetest young couples and hung out with the them the entire cruise.

Ours was a 4 night sailing out of Tampa. Our only stop was Cozumel which was fine with me because we were both new to cruising and had no idea what to expect. I was just happy to be going!

We stayed in a junior suite 1576. Our cabin attendant was Dane and he was so great. Made sure we had everything we could possibly need. Always cheerful with a big smile on his face. I can't say enough good things about Dane. We did tip him $20 now I'm wondering if that was enough. He was so good.

We chose to do MTD which worked great for us. We liked the ability of going to dinner when we wanted. It varied each night as we planned dinner around the various activities and shows we wanted to attend. Our servers were great and the food was good. We each ordered two appetizers, one entree and two deserts each night.

We only made it to breakfast one morning at Windjammer. The eggs were bad which I kind of expexted but everything else we ate either lunch or dinner Was good. No complaints at all. We did grab a late night snack one night in Park Café also. It was nice that this was open until 2am for the late night snackers.

Although we had two sea days those days went really fast. There were so many activities and shows in the cruise compasses that we had a hard time choosing what to do. In our four day cruise we played trivia games, watched the belly flop contest, played chess, participated in the dance parties at night, saw movies in the cinema, shopped at the ship store, played mini golf, enjoyed meeting new people and having drinks at the numerous bars, participated in the quest show, laid out on the deck working on our tan. And many more things I'm sure I'm missing.

We got in the habit of going to Café Latitudes in the mornings for red bull for dh and ice coffee or frapuccino for me. We did not purchase a drink package. We aren't big soda drinkers but think for our next cruise I will be purchasing one as the red bulls and coffees were 5 dollars each. The included tea, water and flavored waters were very tasty so we drank those with meals and in our cabin. The drinks we got were 10-12 each. Vodka and red bull, daiquiris, pina coladas, etc. We had 200 onboard credit and added 100 when we got on the ship and we cashed out with 67.00 leftover. O and dh bought a carton of cigs for 37 and I bought 30 perfume with this also.

Ill try to post pix if I can figure out how. We lOVed BOTS and would cruise her again at any time. She def got us hooked on cruising!!

We were on the same cruise and Mytime dining also. The chocolate sensation desert was so yummy. There was a band in the Centrum playing some Eagles songs and they had a great guitar player. One of our best cruises. Ps I was like your hubby. Now we have five future bookings.

I didn't try the chocolate sensation but I DID try the bread pudding. OMG! Prob ate waayy to much of that as they had it in WJ the next night. Sooo good!! Heres a pic of the bread pudding, our one and only breakfast we ate, the huuuge apple pie the WJ had on the last night and the fruit masterpieces. So cool. And I also added a pic of our buffet meal at Playa Mia in Cozumel. OOhhh Looordd... I wanted to eat everything. Yum!

It was really fun to port next to the Independence OTS. I thought our ship was big but compared to that one Brilliance seemed tiny. Here are some shots of when we were docked next to it and pulling away. Make sure you try to be there to wave them off as they sail away :)

We were on Brilliance two years ago. It was my first cruise and I discovered I was born to cruise! Ours was a five day cruise with stops in Grand Cayman and Cozumel. Last year, we got 7 other couples to go with us on Independence and had a blast.

We are going back on Brilliance in April and doing the same cruise itinerary we did two years ago. This time we plan to do beach days while in port. Can't wait!!

  • 2 weeks later...

Thanks for your post - good info!!! This is our first cruise and it will be on Brilliance - quick question...There are 4 of us traveling - 2 adults and 2 boys - none of us are big drinkers but considered buying at least one soda package.....is there a difference is the size of the cups - adult versus kid? Also - if my son is not having soda with dinner....can I use his cup?

While technically you are not supposed to "share" your drink packages, if your whole family is connected to the same seapass account it can be done. I did not purchase a drink package but there is no one policing you, either you or your husband could have the cup refilled as long as you are both on the same account.
