Did you see any discounts on drink packages, or drink cards being offered?

I happened to be in the Casino and saw it posted on the electronic board about 7pm on day 3 (Haiti) that they were offering the 10 drink card for $79 plus gratuities. I didn't get it but I did not see it advertised anywhere else during the week. It was not something they were pushing. I didn't even see it in the compass. I didn't see any drink package discounts advertised. However, we were platinum and were given a 10% discount on beer purchased on the pool deck. You have to ask for it each time as most servers won't offer it. One bartender thought it was good on wine too but I didn't purchase any wine. It was not good on mixed drinks or other cocktails. If you purchased 5 Heinekins you got the 6th free and got the beer bag/cooler for free. It's a different one than I've seen shown here (it was grey). It was only for Heinekin. They would not substitute any other beer (we asked several times/different servers).

What dinning did you do traditional or my time?

I have always done my time on RCI ships and have always has reservations and never experience any long delays to be seated. But i have been seeing in CC that some people are experiencing long waits even with reservations. Hopefully you did my time and can answer my question.

We had My Time and had reservations every night at either 5:45 or 6:00. It was always a long line when we got there but it moved very quickly. We didn't wait long to be seated. However, the dining experience itself was very long. Almost 2 hours each night. Our waiter and assistant were both very unorganized and slow in my opinion. He had one table for 10, 2 tables of 4 (we were one of these) and a table of 2 and he struggled each night. We would sit for quite a while between courses with dirty dishes in front of us. We were eating fairly early and had later shows so that was never the issue but by the end of the meals we were very sick of sitting in the dining room. And for some reason it seemed really loud in there each night. I don't remember that on other ships. We were on deck 3-The American Grill. The non-reservation line was crazy long and they would put people in the waiting area off to the side after they made it to the front desk. I would definitely recommend reservations.

Thanks for the information. I am not liking what I hear the reason i have always chosen my time is because you can usually get out of the dinning room somewhere around 1 to 1.5 hours. I usually make reservation for a later dinner around 7:30-8:30 but due to the show time some days I has to book at 5:45pm. I am waiting to change the times once I get on board, so you recommend I allow at least 2 hours for dinning before the shows? Can I have the names of your waiter to try and avoid them?

Can you remember what price they advertised for drink packages on board? Was going to book premium before my cruise next week but prices recently went up $10/pp/day on cruise planner so planning on waiting to purchase on board. Thanks!

I was going to do the select package and it went up $7 per day. what is up with that?

Must be the waiter because it didn't take so long when we ate in the MDR. Same one btw, deck 3, Americon Icon. Around same time as well, 6 to 6:30. Still had plenty of time to catch the show.

Two questions :

a). Was the show in Aquatheatre running? There were problems when we were on the ship in Jan.

b). We saw a group called 7th Heaven. Thought they were really good. Were they performing on the ship and if yes, did you get to see them?

The adjustment was not 18% gratuity, rather just a simple price increase. Typically Premium package would be roughly $59day after gratuity...now listed at $66/day. So not $10/pp/day like I previously mentioned (I was ballparking) but $7/pp/day like pajazz mentioned. Just curious if I will be able to get the typical $49/day+18% on board?

I don't remember their names. They were both from India. We had the table just inside the dining room door and to the left. It may just be that we had slow servers. He did always mumble an apology about the slow service but we were there 6 out of the 7 nights and it was the same each night.

What was your favorite location to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner? which ones were the best and which one should we stay away from?

We had 2 mornings with room service on our balcony. That was my favorite.

We went to Johnny Rockets early one morning when it opened at 7. It was good. Park Café was always good but had the same things each morning. We ate the chocolate breakfast in the dining room and had the eggs benedict. That was very good. I took a look at what was offered in the Wipeout Café and wasn't impressed so didn't eat there. I know you can get made to order eggs their also but the rest of the offerings didn't appeal to me nor did that setting.

If you want a quick made to order bagel with all the toppings, a parfait or fruit cup or a hot breakfast sandwich Park Café is a good choice and it always opened early. Windjammer is OK if you go early as it also opened early, otherwise it was crowded! Most days JR and Wipeout didn't open until 8 or 8:30. We are early risers so that was too late for us.

Advertised prices were the same as you can get online. No price break for waiting. Drink Package tables were set up all over. As soon as you board on the Promenade there is a table just to your left.

I wouldn't doubt that it was the waiter. He seemed frazzled every night. We just tried to make the best of it.

How was the cruise?

Keith

Great! Loved all the options and the shows. Only bad thing we had happen was two days of no hot water. There was a water line break that flooded the Boardwalk and we heard rooms were flooded and some without any water (including no toilets) for 2 days. That made our cold showers seem not so bad-at least we were able to shower and use the toilet!

Never seemed overly crowded to me and we never had a time when we couldn't get an elevator when we wanted to. We did use the stairs a lot though.
