lovelife64 Posted March 25, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 25, 2016 Hey and good day:) We have a cruise with the Costa Diadema strating from Rome. The ship leaves at 19:00. From your experience at what time do you think we should arrive to the port? We will sleep the night before in a hotel in central Rome near Trevi Fountain and we plan to tour the area in the morning before leaving to the port. We will take a Shuttle to the port from the hotel. Thanks in advance for your answers
malnik Posted March 27, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 27, 2016 Your shuttle will probably drop you at the ship shuttle, not at the side of the ship. Therefore this can take a bit longer due to guests on trips arriving back. If you leave the city of Rome around 12, you should be onboard between 3 and 4. I wouldn't want to be any later than this. If it was us, we would get up, have a lazy breakfast and then leave to arrive for late lunch on the ship and a start to your holiday. You will have to have a lifeboat drill before the ship sails so thats going to be before 18:30 first sitting. Nothing worse than rushing on that day......if you get on at about 4, find your room, sit and enjoy it for only a few minutes, then its time for the lifeboat drill, that in itself is a tense time as you fight your way through with all the others! Then counted....and by the time its over its time to dress for first sitting...and thats a rush! I think take it easy and enjoy the trip down, leave before lunch. G.M.T. Posted March 29, 2016 #3 Share Posted March 29, 2016 What type of hotel shuttle are you talking about bus or taxi? Have you confirmed that the hotel shuttle will be allowed into the port area? What day will you be travelling to Civitavecchi, take into account rush hourß Last Saturday in Civitavecchia there was tighter security. Another factor to check is to see how many other ships will be in port.

If we leave central Rome at 14:00 and arrive until 16:00 Does it make sense? Should we arrive earlier than 16:00? We plan to take a private transfer from the hotel near Trevi Fountain. I do not know if the shuttle can enter the port. Is there a lot of walking? Do we need to take a shuttle inside the port? (never been there). How much time is it from the place the shuttle dropped us off until we get to the ship? We'd love to hear your opinions Have a great day

Then leave Rome at about 12:00, so as to give you enough time to get to the ship, before the return of the day shore excursions. Don'z cut things to close, no stress needed. On 28th. April besides Diadema there are also Costa neoRomantiva and Eurodam in Civitavecchia. Have a look at this web site: https://www.rometoolkit.com/airport/civitavechia.htm Also have a look at the Ports of Call Forum: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=595 Don't worry - be cruising.
