Apparently hit for $50K over non low sulphur fuel at White Bay.

 

Not sure which ship, but they said P&O.

Some background information

 

Ships moved there for the convenience of the Packer gambling empire. Done on the cheap so no shore power. Bunker diesel is toxic to local residents.

Seems Carnival weren't ignoring it, but hadn't switched over quickly enough.

 

"Mr Sheehy said that Carnival PLC had advised the EPA that its P&O Cruises Australia ships will start their changeover from high sulfur fuel earlier to address the problem.

 

“The EPA has taken a further three samples from the Pacific Jewel since the 26 February and all have complied,” he said."

On the Sea Princess they switch to diesel in White Bay not the usual bunker fuel oil. This is done to eliminate harmful pollution
