BillB48 Posted June 9, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 9, 2016 Cant find any live feed... this is the best I can do:o but it is significant just the same! Just to the right of Gatun Locks on the graphic you will see the ship "Baroque" moving towards Gatun Lake. Even marinetraffic.com has not updated the graphic to show the new locks, so it almost appears the Baroque is moving over land depending on the zoom level. This the first use of the locks with a neo-Panamax ship. It will only lock up to Gatun Lake and then back down later.... Hope someone brought the key to the locks;):)

The Gatun lock satellite photos haven't been updated but you can it in the construction zone.I use AIS Vessel tracking. BillB48 Posted June 9, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted June 9, 2016 Thanks! In the mean time I found some still shots of the first lockage from one of Panama's TV channels... http://www.telemetro.com/elcanaldetodos/noticias/Buque-Baroque-Canal-ampliado-Panama_0_924507843.html
BillB48 Posted June 10, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted June 10, 2016 Here is a link to an article with some good shots of the test lockage at Agua Clara Locks Yesterday, June 9. The first picture might be of particular interest as it shows the bridge piers being erected for the new Atlantic Bridge, doesn't have an official name yet. http://gcaptain.com/photos-first-ship-passes-through-new-panama-canal-locks/ Looking south towards Gatun Lake, Gatun Locks on the right. BillB48 Posted June 14, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted June 14, 2016 Another day, another trial lockage... the MV Baroque fitting nicely in the lower chamber of the Agua Clara Locks. Screen sot from Canal's expansion cam today.
Rare Turtles06 Posted June 15, 2016 #7 Share Posted June 15, 2016 Bill, thanks for all the great info you post in this forum! We are increasingly excited about our first transit in January. :)
BillB48 Posted June 19, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted June 19, 2016 Take a "rapid transit" through the Agua Clara Locks on the chartered vessel the Canal is using for the trial lockages prior to next week's official opening. The MV Baroque starts in Gatun Lake, locks down to Limon Bay where it turns around and then locks back up through Agua Clara to Gatun Lake. From the Canal Administrator's fb page.
