gescn Posted June 11, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 11, 2016 Wondering if we can give my daughter's "old" iphone 5 to my mom to use on the ship? Mom won't part with her flip phone 😝 but would like to be able to find us on the ship.
klfrodo Posted June 11, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 11, 2016 I was going to say sure. Then got to thinking about my parents. Mine still wouldn't know how to use the app
Reojewel69 Posted June 11, 2016 #3 Share Posted June 11, 2016 Yes you can, in fact we did that same thing this past November. Because the app uses the ships wifi you don't need any mobile phone service to use it. I downloaded the app while I was at home using my home wifi. Once on the ship just connect to the ships wifi and enjoy.

Sabalon Posted June 12, 2016 #5 Share Posted June 12, 2016 Only trick will be to make sure to get it online to the App store and download the app before you get there.
fuddrules Posted June 12, 2016 #6 Share Posted June 12, 2016 (edited) Only trick will be to make sure to get it online to the App store and download the app before you get there. It let me download the app to my eyepad on the ship with only the ship wifi. Edited June 12, 2016 by fuddrules

Without buying any kinda carnival data/internet package? Interesting if so may have to try that - curious IT guy. PalmTree601 Posted June 12, 2016 #8 Share Posted June 12, 2016 In some cases it can depend on how "old" the phone is. I had trouble with the Hub app not working on older (several years old) Android phones. It worked perfectly on my "current" Android phone, but two phones with an older Android version gave an error about not being supported. So my advice is to try it out from home first to make sure the app works on the particular phone you want to use. Good luck!
