I think I have 99% of the songs listed already, but here are some more on my cruise playlist:

Cupid Shuffle - Cupid (I know, dumb, but they play it on EVERY cruise and at EVERY Margaritaville, so it reminds me of cruising...)

All I Want To Do - Sugarland (watch the video)

Bartender Song - Rehab

The Boys of Summer - The Ataris

Caribbean Party - Morgan Heritage

Come Fly With Me - Michael Buble (for the plane ride...)

I've Been In Mexico - Blaine Larson

Laid Back 'n Low Key (Cay) - Alan Jackson

Me Love - Sean Kingston

Mexicali Blues - Greatful Dead

Operation: Working Vacation - Sugarland

Pour Me A Vacation - The Great Divide

Soak Up The Sun - Sheryl Crow

This Summer - Squeeze

Great suggestions on this thread. Most of my favorites have been posted.

Here's another: Drift Away by Uncle Kracker

Oh, give me the BEACH, boys, and free my soul

I want to get lost in your rock and roll

And drift away :)

Drift away is originally by Doby Gray who BTW is the black man behind uncle kracker on his video..

I don't know how this got to be such a popular song played on the cruise ships but "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" by Chariman of the Board is heard often on many ships. And it is a great beach version of the song.

To the question about on line radio stations which play "vacation" songs...the Endless Summer Network plays some really great beach music!

Have you heard "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole I love that version. The album is "Alone in iz World"

I also like "Islands in the Sun" by Wheezer.

I am listenng to all my cruise music right now :D

I go onto itunes and put in cruise music and it brings up all kinds of interesting stuff.

Hot, Hot, Hot is not Jamacian; that soca classic was written and performed by the innovative singer Arrow who is from Montserrat.

A great cruise song! Arrow's version can be found

, but I still prefer the version sung by
.

Got this from someone on my meet & mingle boards:

"Where the Boat Leaves From" by Zac Brown Band

The lyrics are awesome!!

There's a place, where the boat leaves from

It takes away all your big problems

You got worries you can drop them in the blue ocean

But you gotta get away to where the boat leaves from

Take one part sand & one part sea, one part shade of a banana tree

The drinks they're cold and the reggae is hot

And I know this is the place for me

Chorus

See the problem is that you're out there

And there's a perfectly good island somewhere

We’ll all ride the boat, and don't grab your coat

You won't need it where we are going

Chorus

Pick me up

Pick me up

Pick me up

Put me down

Down on the sand where its cool

Put me down

When I fall off my stool

Put me down

I'll just sleep there ‘till morning comes around

With sunshine tan ladies and pina colodas

and Bob Marley songs that are playing

There's a song in my ear that I want you to hear

Soft tropical lips that are saying

Get away to where the boat leaves from

It takes away all of your big problems

You got worries you can drop them in the blue ocean

But you gotta get away to where the boat leaves from...

Makes me smile every time!

I collect music on itunes, and have since before I got my ipod. You can buy songs for 99 cents, it’s incredibly easy to use, and they can be burned to CD, not just loaded onto the ipod.
I would recommend using Amazon.com for MP3 downloads. They cost the same as iTunes, they do not have DRM (digitial rights management) imbedded into them, they have better audio resolution, and they can be easily ported from your computer to your device(s). I download songs I don't already own on CD from there. Anything I already own I rip from the CD of course. :D

P. S. For ease of use, my LW and I both use Zunes. She can be computer and technology challenged, and she finds it easy to use.

Well, 'swtgypsy' beat me to "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole . On our cruise around Hawaii a few years ago, that song played ALL the time. Great song

You should give a listen to the LP 'Atlantic Crossing' by Rod Stewart. Two really good songs from that album, 'Stone Cold Sober' and 'I am Sailin'

I haven't seen anyone suggest Sailing by Christopher Cross; 'Hawaii' by the Young Rascals

oh, and anything by Dick Dale, the 'King of the Surf Guitar'

Finally (and I am really dating myself here), the insturmental duo of Santo and Johnny who were big in the late 50's and early 60's (think "Sleepwalk"). They had two albums out that are very easy listening "Hawaii" and "Off Shore"; you can almost hear the waves breaking

I could just go on and on

If you really want to get into yhe "Island Mode" go on I-tunes and search "soca" "calypso" "steel drum" or "reggae" that will keep you busy for a while and really give you that "Island feel"

A lot of great tunes on here...Does anyone know of specific steel drum bands bands or songs to search for online, haven't had much luck there...

Here is a great steel drum band: Steel Drum Island (Also known as Carnival Steel Drum Collection). http://www.steeldrumisland.com/

The music is unbelievable... It's all cover songs of great beach / cruise music!!! I ended up buying all 14 cd's off of them!!

Such a great compliation of songs in this thread! I don't know if anyone mentioned, but you gotta have "Bang the Drum All Day" by Todd Rundgren!

Thank you for everyone who posted! We head out Jun 19th on the Splendor and have a 5 hour drive to get to Long Beach. These songs will definitely help the drive go by and build that excitement for us!
