Mrstortora Posted July 19, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 19, 2016 Hello! I just booked the private oasis for our cruise next April. We have three kids that will only be 8 at the time. Do you have to include them in the number of people you are paying for or will they just let them in because they are with us? Also, how much did you tip? Any other words of wisdom? Thanks! Micahs Grandad Posted July 19, 2016 #2 Share Posted July 19, 2016 There is a fixed charge for this and would be up to your group how to handle children. They left us some fruit and dips and drinks when we got there and never saw anyone again so saw no reason to tip.
birdlgs Posted July 19, 2016 #3 Share Posted July 19, 2016 Have done the Oasis twice before. Absolutely loved it! You didn't say how many people were included just talked about the three kids. They do count kids in the number up to the limit then the additional over that are extra. The first time we had the Oasis it was a group of adults only that were from the Roll Call. The second time was also from the Roll Call but was a family that wanted to off set the cost by offering to include others. Both times it was a great time. You have an open bar for the entire day and more food than you can eat. The BBQ lunch is prepared by your own chef and clean up is also provided by ship staff. If you ever wanted to be pampered like the "Rich n Famous" this is the trip to book. Not sure how much we tipped since we took up a collection but I think it was like 15 to 20% of the cost. There were at least a half dozen employees in the Oasis during our time there.
Mrstortora Posted July 19, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted July 19, 2016 There is a total of 18 of us. I was hoping we could pay for 15 and they would just allow the little ones in. $100 seems a lot to pay for eating very little and no alcohol. StolidCruiser Posted July 19, 2016 #5 Share Posted July 19, 2016 (edited) There is a total of 18 of us. I was hoping we could pay for 15 and they would just allow the little ones in. $100 seems a lot to pay for eating very little and no alcohol. Bodies are bodies regardless of how much they consume. If 3 kids at no charge, why not 5? If 5 kids at no charge, why not 10? See where it could lead? Edited July 19, 2016 by StolidCruiser
birdlgs Posted July 19, 2016 #6 Share Posted July 19, 2016 Well you know the saying on Carnival "We have rules but we don't enforce them." You could cover the 18 and just walk in a bunch to the Oasis and hope there is no "enforcer". With 18 people you have more than paid for the whole deal but who knows with Carnival. My only concern would be getting them on the first tender - we always had a bracelet or something to ID us as first tender people. If you are Faster to the Fun you are on the first tender already. Sounds like you have a huge crowd going - Keep those drinks coming and enjoy the Oasis! :D
Mrstortora Posted July 19, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted July 19, 2016 We plan on enjoying those drinks! As for the kids, they are the reason we are happy about the lifeguard so the money is just going to a different place. It still never hurts to ask! We do have fttf too so that helps! 😄
birdlgs Posted July 20, 2016 #8 Share Posted July 20, 2016 The water is fairly shallow all around the Oasis, like waist deep to an adult. I found that the lifeguard is mostly running off people who want to hang around the area but they are there on duty if needed. The hot tub and clamshells are really nice but the area around the bar is really nice. You will sooooooo enjoy the Oasis.

You gather as a group before the tender process starts and they escort you down to the first tender.

ShakyBeef Posted July 20, 2016 #12 Share Posted July 20, 2016 Mrstortora, Congrats on snagging the PO! DH and I were part of a group of 13 that had it in September 2014, when a friend of ours booked it. And this September, we booked it for just our family of 4 (DDs are 13 and 10) and a few close friends that will be on the cruise with us. DH kinda got spoiled by the PO experience and insisted that if we were going to HMC again, I find a saildate for which the PO was still available.:o It's so nice and I'm so looking forward to it, as you are!:) It's kinda old, but here's a thread where I answered another poster's questions about the PO based on our experience, including tipping. It also includes some pictures. I hope it helps: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1819432 Enjoy the wonderful PO!

You gather as a group before the tender process starts and they escort you down to the first tender. We bought FTTF for embarkation. Someone else mentioned we might have trouble getting others on first tender if elect not to do oasis. That wouldn't be a problem for us because of fttf.
