Diamond Princess- May 22- Alaska-Questions

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

Here are a few questions...

Can one dine in the formal dining room( late seating) for lets say three out of the seven nights and eat in theme restaurants the other nights. Does one have this flexibility?

Has anyone seen Sushi on the Diamond ?Is it available in the Asian restaurant?

Is there a time for afternoon high tea?

Any recommendations for a second time cruiser to Alaska for shore excursions. We did the seaplane and helicopter to the Glacier the last time.

Has anyone taken the van at Skagway to the Yukon?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

We are looking forward to the cruise as we have read great things about the new Diamond..

Tea is at 3:30. You may not choose to do both PC and traditional. If you are confirmed in traditional and you go to a pc restaurant, you will lose your seat in traditional. I had the same question and the answer is directly from a Princess rep. who not only gave me the answer but also verified it. Someone else will have to answer the rest of your questions.

Has anyone seen Sushi on the Diamond ?Is it available in the Asian restaurant? Yes, it is available in the Pacific moon.

Is there a time for afternoon high tea? 2:30 to 4:00

Any recommendations for a second time cruiser to Alaska for shore excursions. We did the seaplane and helicopter to the Glacier the last time. Explore via rental car, you can see alot and spend much less.

Srphnx,

Thanks for the great reply. Really well written and appreciated.. We may take you up on the cc'ers meeting after the muster drill. My husband and I are retired and we are traveling with our son and daughter in law in their thirties. What ages are the cc folks going to the meeting.

In my multi-generational group some are late 30s, 60s, even 80s, with one 6yo.

The group demographics are as one would expect, mostly 40's and 50's. I am an old fogey in training, eat early go to bed and get up early and don't like loud music or unruly children.

However I am very social and love to interract with others, have more in common with people possessing life experience but do speak "kid" as well.

See ya there.

Juneau for sure, if you meet and greet me we may even be able to split one as we are going to hit all the highlights even though it is our 4th trip. Feel free to email me directly at Srphnx@aol.com

srphnx,

THanks again for the reply. We are with our two adult children and I think we will rent a car with them if we choose this option. I also read about shuttles to the Glacier for ten dollars which does not sound bad. We will wait and see. Maybe I will check on rent a car prices as I heard they do pick you up from the ship. Thanks again for the generous offer to share a car with us.

Hopefully we will meet at the Meet and greet. I am Francine from NYC.

No problem, rental was about $35 at the pier, the glacier bus times the four people you have is more than that and you could see St.Therese and other sights in a rental.

Hi BJS,
Juneau,
We will hit St. Therese's shrine, the salmon hatchery, the Mendenahal glacier and the downtown area, all of which are in about a 20 mile circle. Only the hatchery even has an admission so once you cover the rental car, you more or less have paid for everything. The tram ride is also very neat, but only if the weather cooperates.

srphnx Thanks. With the weather they have had this past week or so was hoping to do the tram this time BUT... hope the 10 day forecast being so far out is very unreliable because it is calling for low 60s and rain.

Why don't we both pack up some of this weather we are having and take it along? OR.. maybe that would melt things to fast!

Lol, but I am hoping for "bad" weather, sun I (we) got, clouds and rain, that I could use, how about we bring some home with us??
