How does rolling your clothes help save room, I guess I don't know how it works with helping?

I don't roll my clothes but still save a lot of room. I buy 2 gallon size plastic ziplocs.

Fold clothes as normal to fit inside bags. When bag is full kneel on it to squeeze out excess air (like the vacuum bags on tv, but this works just as well). After I wear an outfit on the cruise I fold it and put it in an empty bag. Saves time repacking. More time to enjoy the ship! icon_biggrin.gif

This method cuts down on wrinkles, too. But just on the clothes!! icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif

Giant Zip Locks sound like a great idea. I use packing cubes. I have so many now, I need a suitcase just to store. I really love those things though. They help me organize the cloths and I can just pull them out of the suit case and throw them in a drawer or on a shelf. Zip Locks are a lot cheaper. Wish I'd thought of that. But then. . .my packing cubes come in pretty colors. icon_smile.gif

Oh boy Sue. I was just going through the weighing everything this weekend. We are going to be flying inter Europe so can only take 44 pounds a piece. It's amazing how much formal clothing weighs. If I go over, I'll probably chuck the packing cubes in favor of the zip lock.

LOL!! Cactusrose, just a hint. If hubby wears a tux, rent it on the ship, no packing, and for gowns or cocktail dresses, find very lightweight fabric, and one pr of formal shoes for all formal nights. I dont do that icon_eek.gif but its a good idea for airline restictions!! icon_biggrin.gif

Where did you buy your 2 gallon bags? I have looked all over and can only find 2 gallon bags.
quote:
Originally posted by verwirrt:

Good point, I just have a lot of crap, and a huge suit case that's sitting on my bed w/ only a few things in it....but a heck of a lot more to fit in....I hear it saved room, it could be to keep from being wrinkled too!....hmmmmmm Great point!

I personally haven't rolled packed, but our next door neighbors and best friends always roll pack, they just went on the Sun over March 29th, two adults and two kids. She rolled everything and managed to take only one suitcase for the kids and one for her and her hubby, besides a carry on. She was gone for 10 days, and she still had room to bring home goodies for everyone.

I just pack a few pairs of shorts and tanks and then dinner clothes and bathing suits. Rent hubbys tux on the ship. Very little to pack.

Found the large zip locks, 2lbs and bigger, at my local Target. Believe someone else about a year ago also said to check Wal-mart or K-mart.

I've converted to a roller after my last cruise. Everything except for one finicky linen shirt stayed perfect icon_smile.gif

I only use ziplocs for things that might leak (shampoo, hairspray)... that kind of stuff!

We use the ziplocks, too.

Best thing about them is you can toss the bags around to get at what you need without having to rummage thru the suitcase and mess everything up.

Thanks a lot! for your help. It is much easier to see what other people do and then see if it works for myself rather than me bustling around and around trying to sort things out in my own way. Thanks for all of your help! icon_razz.gif
