snapchat on ship?

i am going on the Fascination ship in January. I was wondering if anyone recently was able to use snapchat on the ship?

It will work if you purchase a WiFi package (or by the minute). It should also work with the cell connection via the cellular@sea service but that will be very expensive.

I've heard that it will work with the "Value" wifi package or better. I've heard that some people have gotten it to work with the "Social" package, but it is hit or miss.

However, the Carnival website does directly state that it will not work with any package. So nothing is guaranteed.

It did not work for me on the Breeze in December with the social media package. I've seen others more recently say it worked for them on the SM package and other say it didn't. I think it's anybody's guess at this point.

 

Carnival's website specifically says it's excluded

 

Social ($5 USD per day) – Access the most popular websites and applications. Includes: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Linkedin, Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp. Does not include access to other websites or apps.

 

Value ($16 USD per day) – Surf all your favorite sites, including e-mail, news, sports, weather, banking and finance. Note: Does not support Skype calling or music streaming (such as Spotify).

 

Premium ($25 USD per day) – From e-mail to Skype, our Premium plan promises the fastest possible connection, at speeds up to 3 times faster than our Value Plan. Supports Skype video calling, where coverage allows.

Users may easily upgrade from one plan to another. Users may use one device at a time on each plan, including either their personal devices or one of our on-board computers.

 

All plans exclude video streaming (such as Netflix or Hulu) and Snapchat. Cellular-network-dependent WiFi Calling and Facetime services are also not supported at this time. Printing is offered at no charge.

I see the social plan says access to FB. My wife got the package and there was no internet access, only messenger services. She had to upgrade to fully use FB

I have no idea why they would not let us use Snapchat? It doesn't even take that much bandwidth. Makes no sense ... should be able to use with the VALUE package and if I can't I will certainly complain as it's almost as popular as FB as far as social media is concerned ....

Just off the Fascination about 4 weeks ago and we had the internet package and my daughter had the social media (I think) package and we were able to snapchat. :)

I have gotten the social media package the last 2 cruises and Facebook and Messenger worked just fine. I uploaded pictures, posted and sent messages home to my dogsitter.

We only had the social media package and had no problems with Facebook. My kids also had no problems,s with snapchat.

The site does say it doesn't include Snapchat, but maybe they are talking about the video chat portion or something.

Old thread here but was wondering if you can video Snapchat with the basic internet plan. It worked when I was at a Cancun resort.

Snapchat does work with the Social Media plan. My nieces are Snapchatting fools and had had to keep up their "streaks" while on Vista. Whatever that means. So yes it does work even though it says it doesn't.
