Anthem - Room Assistance Appreciated

Hi All,

We're having trouble which balcony cabin to choose as we're hoping to pick one near an available inside stateroom. We would appreciate any insight based on anyone who has sailed on the Anthem of the Seas. Also, is motion any worse or are we better off in the front, middle or back on the Anthem? Are we better off on the port or starboard side for Eastern Caribbean ports (St. Thomas, San Juan and St. Maarten?

9262 - towards the middle, port side, but the balcony seems to be on a slant. Also, since this is indented and not towards the outer most part of the ship, will our view be limited if we try and look forward?

9304 - towards the back, port side.

9303 - this is an inside but it appears to be vertical instead of horizontal? Would this cause motion sickness, especially if the virtual balcony is based on a normal horizontal laid out stateroom?

9114 - very front port side. This is next to a large oceanview stateroom in the front? Will our views be better in the very front? Will motion be worse?

9318 - very back port side. This is next to a balcony suite cabin facing the aft, not sure if views will be better or worse as a result

9126 - towards the front, port side

7516 - almost very front, starboard

Thank you very much for your assistance.

Middle of the ship is best. Port or starboard doesn't matter.

Most mid-ship cabins are located in central narrow section so you have less motion in rough seas but the view is very slightly obstructed by the wider central hump and forward and aft jump sections . The exception mid-ship, of course, are the outer hump balconies.

Cabins in the front and aft jump sections do have a better view but motion will be more in rough seas. We did two 12 night cruises on Anthem and found it to be very stable with not that much motion even in rough seas. We had cabins in rear jump and one first off forward jump section.

Below are shots of Anthem balcony views.

First is from cabin 6292, first one on aft jump section.

Second is from cabin 10562 which is first balcony rear of widest front jump section that has an extra large balcony with an angled outer railing. View from this balcony was great both forward and rearward.

IMO the best of the cabins you list is 9262 - slightly aft close to the aft elevators on the port side. I got 6662 (same location on the starboard, but three decks lower) as a guarantee in March and was very happy with its location. Anthem is a big ship and like most RCL ships, being close to the aft elevators gives you better access to the most frequented areas on the ship.

I would like to give a shoutout to Deck 3. Although only ocean view, we had 2 adjoining mid ship and it was perfect. No motion and right near casino (deck 3) 2 different restaurants on same floor, and guest services and Royal Promenade on Deck 4.

Elevators always long wait.

Just my opinion 🙂

Hi...how bad was the obstruction on the balcony? Sorry I know this thread is old.
