Best beach to take young children to?

Our two sons are 3 and 11 months. Any suggestions on which beach to go to? Something where there is either some shade or where we can rent an umbrella or canopy thing.

 

The last two times we went we did the KonTiki excursion and loved it, but don't LOVE the beach they take you to. Wanting something different.

Magens Bay or Lindbergh Bay which is a short taxi (aka Emerald Beach), I'd recommend the Emerald Beach Resort in Lindbergh. They rent umbrellas and there is a restaurant as well with nice restrooms.

 

The very nicest beaches, IMHO, are on the East End and they're a 25 - 30 minute taxi from Crown Bay. We'd consider Sapphire because it is gorgeous and it has lots of natural shade. On a very busy day the shady spots can go quickly.

In your case I think Magens is your best option. There is shade, food and drink, and the water there is almost always very calm so the 3 year old can easily enter and exit the water.

I agree with Magens Bay. Its a clean beach with lifeguards as well as nature trails full of critters to see. First time we went there was a family of Mongoose (Mongeese ?) in the parking lot.

 

However, there are no chairs or umbrellas to rent. I would suggest you bring a beach baby tent. They are super cheap and fold up so tiny. Up off the sand is lots of trees for shade.

The boutique rents chairs. Maybe $7 per chair.
