Complimentary Food on Oasis OTS

We have never taken a cruise on a Royal Caribbean MEGA ship before. We have taken a few on the Jewel OTS, Celebrity Summit and the Caribbean Princess. Before cruising I like to find out where the complimentary food venues are. In January we are on the Oasis of the Seas. After spending time on the RCI website I have been able to find a some complimentary food venues.

I have found that the MDR, Windjammer, Brasserie 30, Sorrento’s Pizza, Park Café, Solarium Bistro, Jade Sushi, Dog House, Boardwalk Donuts, Vitality Café, Room Service, Café Promenade and Café Latte-Tudes (Free Pastry?) all serve free food.

Are there any others or any peculiarities that I should be aware of?

Thank you in advance,

Bob

Brasserie 30 is what they call the MDR at lunch, it's not a separate venue.

No Cafe Latte-Tudes on Oasis.

No Jade Sushi on Oasis.

Wipeout Cafe is also complimentary.

Johnny Rockets is complimentary at breakfast.

There is no shortage of complimentary options on Oasis. Yes, they have for-fee options also. You will notice that every neighborhood has complimentary options - that are really good, too. On Boardwalk, Johnny Rockets for lunch and Sabor are VERY reasonably prices ($5 roughly if I remember). So it's borderline trivial.

After getting off Carnival, I get why they have a small fee for Johnny Rockets and Sabor. It's a sit down restaurant, food made to order, with service, etc. Where Carnival has Guys Burgers - they have big sheets of already cooked burgers, help yourself, basically same concept with Blue Iguana. So for $5, I think the Royal experience is worth it. We enjoyed both, though.

Solarium Bistro is free for lunch, Wipeout Cafe is free, too. So front and back of the pool areas, plus every neighborhood, plus MDR, etc. Lots and lots of complimentary options.

Not familiar with RCCL but boarding Nov 20. Wondering about breakfast and lunch at Johnny Rocket. I read that breakfast is free. What do they serve? Lunch $5? what would that menu be like?

What would Johnny Rockets compare with? burger king? Panera?

Normal breakfast food. Pancakes, eggs, potatoes, bacon, bread, etc. We ended up there several times for breakfast as the Boardwalk is quiet in the morning, nice vibe, and you get pretty fast and good service with fresh made food. It's especially nice if you would like to sit outside at the tables and enjoy breakfast. They have actual table service, so you just order and relax. Food is made fresh to order. Also consider the main dining room for breakfast - they have a smaller buffet as well as table service with menu complimentary.

As for lunch. Johnny Rockets has a small upcharge and it's burgers and fries plus shakes. I think most would say it's well above a Burger King plus you get proper table service.

Thank you BNBR, that helps very much. We are seasoned cruisers and love big ships but haven't done Oasis before. It will help us having a recommendation and idea from a fellow Cruise Critic friend.

I think you'll find Oasis very accessible. The neighborhood concept makes it feel like it's not really all that big. Other than the sushi restaurant, I don't think there is anything really hidden. Just visit each neighborhood and wander around, you'll know your way around within the first hour or two of being on board and wandering. It's quite simple.

I think the size of the ship gets people anxiosu before they actually get on it. Consider that it's not that much longer than smaller ships. So it doesn't feel THAT big as it's those long hallways that make ships feel so big.... I found Oasis to feel quite "normal" really.

Lunch, dinner and take out if I remember correctly. And you pay per item, not flat rate. They also offer the teppanyaki grill.

Correct. It's pay per item. It's a little hidden outside of the casino. It's sushi and teppanyaki. Reservations "could" be required especially for teppanyaki.

If you would like sushi, it's actually cheaper to do the sushi making class. More fun, too. It's $20 and you get 2 rolls that you get to make yourself. It was cheaper than buying 2 rolls off the menu :D
