Which area to stay in?

Nothing wrong with the French Quarter hotels, but those in the Central Business district (right on the other side of Canal Street from the French Quarter) will also work for your needs. All are easy to walk into the Quarter or to get the streetcar.

What is the best area to stay in for 3 days prior to cruise? We want to do a lot of site seeing and wasn't sure what area has easiest access to street cars or tour stops. Any advise!

In the Uptown/Garden District area, they have at least three hotels on the St. Charles trolley lines:

1) Best Western St. Charles Inn

2) Hampton Inn - St. Charles Ave/Garden District

3) Clarion Hotel Grand Boutique

I think you might prefer staying in the French Quarter area or the Central Business District (Central Business District is also called the C.B.D.). But I just wanted to give you a few more options that you can check out.
