Rare Tom O. Posted November 30, 2016 #1 Share Posted November 30, 2016 I recently paid my entire cruise final payment with the Barclay Bank/HAL credit card points. I still had quite a few points left over so I purchased dinner for two at the Pinnacle Grill with 5,000 points. I previously purchased dinner at the PG off the HAL Web Site. The dinner that I purchased from HAL showed up immediately on my itinerary. There is no sign of the dinner I got with credit card points. I suspect this will be very similar to when a TA comps a free dinner. I have never had this happen, so I have never dealt with it. Will the "free" dinner ever show up on my cruise account? Or will I get a notice when I first enter my cabin? I realize I probably won't be able to make this reservation until on board. I just would like to have some written proof that we are getting the dinner before arriving at the pier.
jtl513 Posted November 30, 2016 #2 Share Posted November 30, 2016 Or will I get a notice when I first enter my cabin? I've never bought a dinner with points, but I regularly buy beverage cards. They have always been in the cabin when we arrive. I just would like to have some written proof that we are getting the dinner before arriving at the pier. You should have gotten an email confirmation of the purchase. I print and bring that.
Rare Crazy For Cats Posted November 30, 2016 #3 Share Posted November 30, 2016 When I first got the card I used points for beverage cards. I couldn't find anything to indicate I bought the cards. The beverage cards were in my cabin on embarkation day with my name on them. I suspect that you will have a card for your PG meal and asked to make a reservation once on board. Rare Tom O. Posted November 30, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted November 30, 2016 Thanks JTL513 and Crazy for Cats. I was thinking that is what would happen. I opted for a Pinnacle dinner because it was more bang for the buck than the beverage card. But I still have more points and I may be doing the beverage card too. 1ANGELCAT Posted November 30, 2016 #5 Share Posted November 30, 2016 I've redeemed points for the PG dinner several times. The last time I received a card in the cabin that Barclaycard had gifted a dinner and to make reservations. I also always print out the email confirmation and bring it with me. This will not show up on your personal itenerary as no reservation was made prior to sailing. Also, the loyalty discount does not get applied. Rare Tom O. Posted December 1, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted December 1, 2016 Thanks everybody. One more question. If I get a beverage card with points, and don't use all of it, is the balance refunded the same way as when you purchase a card?
catl331 Posted December 1, 2016 #7 Share Posted December 1, 2016 I don't know the answer to that, but I know you can buy a bottle of wine to take home. :)
