FirstRodeo Posted January 10, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 10, 2017 First cruise coming up in 6 days!!!!!!!!!! However, question about port. If the ship is in port from 8-5 (does that mean you can get off the boat right at 8?)... what is the latest you can get back on the boat? THANKS! Quilting_Cruiser Posted January 10, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 10, 2017 You'll be able to get off the boat around that time--someone else will come along and explain the complexities of that. I've gotten off earlier than the time on the itinerary and later...just depends. All-aboard time is usually 30 minutes before the sail-away time. They will announce it and there will also be signs at the gangway as well as a note in the daily what time you need to be back on board. As a first-time cruiser, be aware that they WILL leave you behind if you're not back on time. All aboard time is not a mere suggestion.
Rare BirdTravels Posted January 11, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 11, 2017 (edited) Don't be late getting back to the ship. The ship will leave without you. The captain won't hold a ship because you wanted to have one last drink. And keep 2000 of your fellow passengers waiting. lovedestiny Posted January 11, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 11, 2017 You should plan to be back on at least 1 hour before for good measure. You would be surprised what can hold you up and possibly cause you to be late. Get off as soon as you can, make the most of your time and get back on :) The cruise director (etc) will make announcements, so listen to them and also when you get off the boat there is usually an LED sign running about the time. roger001 Posted January 11, 2017 #5 Share Posted January 11, 2017 After the ship docks, it takes a bit of time for the ramps to be placed, customs to clear the ship. However, you can usually be off the ship within about 30 minutes after docking, maybe quicker. As mentioned, be back on at least 30 minutes before scheduled departure. We use the 1 hour suggestion. There will be a notice as you exit the ship telling you the latest time you must be back on board.
