Disembarking one day early ... possible ??

I know the Italian lines routinely handle this request. So in terms of EU regulations, there can be no obstacle.

Thanks - I always hate the last night on the ship when you leave Naples and know that you are going to Rome to go home :-( It would be really exciting to get off and visit one of our favourite places :D

Silly question, why would you plan this without verifying the graduation date?

Give them a break - it has happened and Universities in the UK are a law unto themselves re graduation. Loving, proud parents just to even worry about the clash.

It is much more simple as all happens within the EU for EU guests: No need to call or pre-organize anything. Just inform guest services on the ship a few days before departure, they put your name on the manifest for Naples, settle your account in due time and leave with your luggage self-help. We did this many times and it is also part of our business life in the EU.

Thanks for your comments, kind words and support Presto

Yes, in hindsight we messed up with our dates. Our eldest son graduated 2 years ago and his ceremony was in August as it was a different university. Depending on the uni and then the course taken graduation ceremonies span several weeks over the summer.

We have contacted both our TA and Celebrity and awaiting advice - hopefully as others have suggested within the EU this should/could be possible.... if not we will cancel the cruise as its more important to be with our son .... we can take a cruise anytime but we only get one chance to see our kids graduate

Really interested in this thread. We have always thought it would be great on a shorter cruise (like the 10days) to get off at Naples (if it is the last stop) and transfer to Sorrento for 5 days before flying out from Naples. We'd obviously organise it with the ship though in case they wondered where 2 passengers had done and sent out a search parties. Then again the luggage would be a give away.

Let us know how you go on :)

Just to close this off we finally got a letter confirming we could "downline" in Naples

It took over 6 weeks of chasing Celebrity through our TA but eventually all good and I have the magical letter and permission to leave the ship a day early in Naples.

Thanks to everyone for all the advice
