Dallasgal Posted February 7, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 7, 2017 Has anyone taken the Chef Market/Master chef tours in Valencia, Portofino, Provence or Livorno.
Rare RachelG Posted February 7, 2017 #2 Share Posted February 7, 2017 None of these, but we did the ones in amalfi and Sicily. They were outstanding, worth every penny. Free flowing wine, great food and education.
Travelcat2 Posted February 7, 2017 #3 Share Posted February 7, 2017 The Explorer is so new that there are few of us that have taken these type of excursions. We had one excellent experience (in Funchal, Portugal) and one not so great experience (in Barcelona). We have also done "Chef Market/Master chef tours" twice on Oceania (Regent's sister cruise line) and they were wonderful. IMO, most of these excursions will be excellent (and I suspect that after the reviews of the excursion in Barcelona, the one we were on may be discontinued. It was "molecular gastronomy" which means that you enjoy eating foam, fried fish bones, petrified fish...... the best dish we had was boar cheeks..... yuck!) JPR Posted February 8, 2017 #4 Share Posted February 8, 2017 We did the Oceania Riviera version with Chef Kelly in Corfu a few years ago, and it was excellent and a lot of fun. She heads the team that does the Explorer versions, all of whom did the Riviera and Marina cooking classes.
