familyreunion2010 Posted March 1, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 1, 2017 Can anyone give feedback if it is worth it to go to the Santa Barbara Zoo? Also, how far is it from the port and how can you get there since there are no excursions offered from Princess. Thanks
CruiserBruce Posted March 1, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 1, 2017 I see you asked on the California Coastal board. Better choice.
BlessedandGrateful Posted March 1, 2017 #3 Share Posted March 1, 2017 I live in the area and have gone many times with my children. It is a small zoo and nice but not my first choice for a kid free day in Santa Barbara. Sent from my iPad using Forums

Our 4 year old loved it! Once off the ship (tender port) walk right up the boardwalk where you will be met by numerous Santa Barbara Chamber of Commerce folks who direct you to the tram which will directly transport you for 50 cents! Be sure to ask for the zoo tram in particular. If you are able bring a piece of cardboard for sliding in the children's area. It's a big hit! msk1

You feel like a moron the first time LOL. We took Uber. The guy was there in around 5 minutes. It cost around $4 to $5 each way. The wait was about 2 minutes returning. We live in LA but my grandkids would rather us drive an hour to the SB zoo then the LA zoo. It is easily walkable. Not huge but is a nice relaxing day. The lunch spot by the petting zoo serves beer. There is a cute little train. We love that zoo. Even though we have yearly passes and go all the time the grandkids still wanted to do that the day we were in port. The also have a hot rod car that gives you a around the town trip. We booked the whole car for the six of us and the kids had a blast. The thought they were a movie star doing the Queen Elizabeth wave. I would recommend you book this on line before you get there as I would guess it would be busy with a ship in town. JudithLynne Posted March 1, 2017 #6 Share Posted March 1, 2017 We are seniors, no kids and we absolutely loved the SB ZOO! Take the tram, it is so easy. We can't wait to go again in the future.
familyreunion2010 Posted March 3, 2017 Author #7 Share Posted March 3, 2017 Thanks for all the good ideas everyone. What is the name of the Boardwalk / Port where the Tender drops you off? Is this Stearns Warf / State Street?
