jiminyC_fan Posted March 8, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 8, 2017 I know some cruise lines will take your leftover foreign currency and apply it to your account. I know you don't get the best exchange but it will rid us of it. Does anyone know if Viking will do that?
sitraveler Posted March 8, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 8, 2017 You can pay in dollars or euros. Other than those 2 currencies, Viking does not use foreign currencies.

Krisval Posted March 9, 2017 #4 Share Posted March 9, 2017 We have sent our leftover currency to the Children's fund at the United Nations. There may be other charitable organizations that will take your currency.

bootsiecat Posted March 20, 2017 #6 Share Posted March 20, 2017 If you go through the Amsterdam airport (beautifully renovated) they have bin where you can drop your left over currency and it goes to charity. If you have left over Euros I've kept mine since most of Europe uses that and it's nice to have some 1 or 2 euro coins to tip your first days. jiminyC_fan Posted March 20, 2017 Author #7 Share Posted March 20, 2017 I do have some leftover Euros that I accidentally didn't spend on our River Cruise so at least I have a start with some foreign currency.

Since the € exchange rate has been so favorable of late, we actually went to an ATM before we left to get a couple hundred to bring home for our next trip. We have done this before because it is cheaper than trying to buy euros here and we don't have to worry about not finding an ATM at the airport.
