tmee Posted March 17, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 17, 2017 OK fashion guru's I am having a momentary lapse.... What kind of necklace or jewelry should one wear with long halter neck evening gown?....or maybe none at all? The dress is simply tailored, no embellishments (beading or sequins) Thank you in advance for the suggestions :) tmee
lelehall Posted March 17, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 17, 2017 In my opinion no necklace, go with statement earrings.
Sea Gypsy 2 Posted March 17, 2017 #3 Share Posted March 17, 2017 I agree. Statement earrings and pretty bracelet!
Rare Lois R Posted March 17, 2017 #4 Share Posted March 17, 2017 Hi, would you be able to post a picture of the dress?
tmee Posted March 18, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted March 18, 2017 Thank you guys very much. I think you guys are right about nixing the necklace.. and I like the idea of the bracelet... and the earrings... I was sort of wondering if I should wear a jeweled pin or dress clip at the center of the V? The dress itself, is snuggly packed in my luggage :( as I like to pre-pre pack :) I will see if I can find something similar online. tmee
cb at sea Posted March 18, 2017 #6 Share Posted March 18, 2017 I don't think a "halter" type top or dress needs anything "extra"...the neckline is the statement. Bracelet and earrings are all you need!
poshtotty Posted March 19, 2017 #7 Share Posted March 19, 2017 Less is more in my book, totally agree amazing earrings and perhaps a beautiful clutch purse is all you need.
loosygoosy Posted March 21, 2017 #8 Share Posted March 21, 2017 Just a word to the wise. Depending on where in the world you a travelling (ports of entry) please make sure you can bring in "wood" or "seed" as some costume jewelry is made of these substances and can be forbidden (eg Australia, New Zealand...). They will be confiscated or you will have to pay to have them "treated" (costly) and it takes time to get them back. laurabegorrah Posted March 28, 2017 #9 Share Posted March 28, 2017 I'd go with the opposite - go with big or long with necklace and smaller earrings. The high coverage and clean lines of a halter neck give you a good blank canvass to show off a fun necklace.
collegegirl92 Posted April 3, 2017 #10 Share Posted April 3, 2017 I personally wouldn't wear a necklace with a halter top because it would have to be a big chunky one that would take up space and feel heavy. I would rather dress it up with some earrings and a bracelet.
tmee Posted April 9, 2017 Author #11 Share Posted April 9, 2017 Hi Ladies I just got back and I ended up wearing a bracelet with vintage charms...(I guess that is the best way to describe it) and small drop earrings. I also added a long silk scarf with Japanese motif I bought on the trip. tmee
