MaShesLookinOutMyWindow Posted March 22, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 22, 2017 I'm assuming we'd need a cab, as it seems like kind of a hike and goes through an industrial area. Just curious if anyone has any advice, or knows if they have a snack bar or somewhere to grab lunch on the property. Thanks!
paul58 Posted March 22, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 22, 2017 Dolphin Discovery is near Bird Rock Beach Hotel, there are 3 restaurants there but I am not sure about hours.
Ajat0921 Posted March 31, 2017 #3 Share Posted March 31, 2017 there is a groupon right now with 20% off if you use Happy20.
MaShesLookinOutMyWindow Posted April 1, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted April 1, 2017 there is a groupon right now with 20% off if you use Happy20. They're on Groupon quite a bit. If you follow them on Facebook, they post better sales there, but they're usually just 24 hour sales so you have to keep checking back. It's not unusual to see 50% off. sbharber Posted April 1, 2017 #5 Share Posted April 1, 2017 I agree. I called them to ask a question about the Groupon, and they offered me 4 adult Royal Swims for $298. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
HS2BS Posted April 21, 2017 #6 Share Posted April 21, 2017 Took the grandsons (9 & 11) last summer on our own. There are always some type of specials going on. Get there early as the ship usually has a large group that gets priority. They do not allow you to take pictures near the dolphins - they sell you there photos at an astronomical price. Kedale Posted April 25, 2017 #7 Share Posted April 25, 2017 We were in St Kitts last year on a cruise with a big group. Several couples scheduled the dolphin encounter directly on their website (look for discounts). They had no problem getting taxis to take them to the location. flhokie Posted June 14, 2017 #8 Share Posted June 14, 2017 We did the Dolphin Discovery last week when in St. Kitts on Allure of the Seas. We booked on our own--via an independent shore excursion company (refundable if ship doesn't make port, etc). The cost was about $20 less per person than through the cruise line, but our main reason for booking on our own was the age requirement in place by the cruise line. DD is 6. RCCL requires participants to be at least 8, but Dolphin Discovery & independent company only requires participants to be 6 as long as there is an adult in the water with them. Transportation was not an issue at all. There is a taxi staging area at the end of the dock. It was $3 per person each way. Taxis were in good condition. The drive to Dolphin Discovery is very short. The swim was great. DD loved it (so did my 70+ year old mom). There is a restaurant there. We didn't see anyone eating. We sat on the porch & purchased some sodas while waiting for our turn. byrdbrain55 Posted February 13, 2018 #11 Share Posted February 13, 2018 We were there in January and it was easy to catch a taxi. We got a photo package for two people. It was $140, we got a CD with all of our photos, a printed photo of each of us and two frames.
aznstorm Posted June 11, 2018 #12 Share Posted June 11, 2018 Just curious what you did after the tour? Is there a beach nearby to hang out at since the tour is only about 1.5-2hrs I think.
MaShesLookinOutMyWindow Posted September 2, 2018 Author #13 Share Posted September 2, 2018 After we were done, we went back to port. Word to the wise- arrange for your taxi driver to come back for you. There are no taxi stands and when I asked the staff to call a taxi for us, they were clearly irritated. It was about an hour until their posted closing time but I guess they were closing early because they couldn't get us out of there fast enough. They ended up asking another family if we could ride with them. (Can you say Awkward?) They were nice and said yes, but I felt like a burden. Great experience, just make sure you have a way to get back to the pier worked out ahead of time.
jsickels Posted January 5, 2019 #14 Share Posted January 5, 2019 @MaShesLookinOutMyWindow I just booked this through the Dolphin Discovery website. Our reservation is for noon - what time should we have the taxi come back and get us? 2:00? Is there anything to do there?
