Wanted to share how to watch movies on your cruise cabin TV that you have already downloaded on your iPhone.

We were on the Celebrity Silhouette.

We have an iPhone 7 but this should work for an iPhone 6 too.

  1. Attach an Apple Lightning Digital AV adapter to your iPhone
  2. Plug in your standard HDMI cable to the Digital AV adapter
  3. Unplug cruise ship TV HDMI cable from the back
  4. Plug in the other end of the standard HDMI cable into the back of the TV
  5. Enjoy your movie

We did NOT have to set the TV to a specific channel or source!

Note that not all ships use HDMI for the standard TV signal. If yours does, the above method will work. In fact, I usually bring a small HDMI switch so I don't have to keep swapping cables.

If it doesn't use HDMI (If I recall correctly, Equinox doesn't), there is a chance one of the HDMI ports will be active and you can switch to it using the physical input button on the tv (or if you bring a universal remote).

Answers to Questions

We sailed on the Celebrity Silhouette so the TVs on the other ships could be different.

MixerDave - Yes, it has a USB port, however; you would possibly have to change the source on the TV and use a universal remote. It looks like MANDREAM answered this question too.

Sandc4e - It was not slow, we per-downloaded the movies
