Just got off the Getaway. Here is my quick review from the week. We are a family of 5, kids 11, 13, and 15. We aren't alcohol drinkers and did the MDR so we can't speak to the service at the bars or the paid eating areas, although we did have the package last year and enjoyed all of the paid dining areas.

We ate at savor, taste, O'Sheehan's, the the buffet. We liked them all. My kids preferred the buffet since they had more options so we had dinner there 4 or the nights. Food was great. They had prime rib 2 nights in the buffet. Other times they had carved turkey, brisket, and another kind of steak that I don't recall. Ribs on the 2nd night at O'sheehans were great as well. Service was slow at the all of the sit downs but we expected that so it wasn't a problem.

Roatan-We did the Maya Key excursion. Food was good along with the snorkeling. Pool and beach were nice. Had some bug bites after so bring bug spray if you go here.

Harvest Caye-we got of the ship right at 8 to find good chairs near the pool and beach. Pool was large and fun but it was packed by late morning. Plenty of chairs on the beach. Sand was a little rough as others have mentioned. There was a heat wave going on, had to be over 100 degrees when we were there. Even the locals were talking about how hot it was. We did ziplining and paddle boards. Ziplining was good. Price was a little steep for what you get. Paddle boarding was at cove, not in the main beach area. It wasn't fine if you haven't done it before but if you have, you'll be bored after 15 minutes or so as you can't really explore very far and no waves.

Costa Maya- Maya lost kingdom. This was my kids favorite. They had several zip lines, water slides, a pool and lazy river. It never got very busy.

Cozumel-Chankanaab. Probably our least favorite next to Harvest Caye. We did the tour through the ship which ended up being a 4 hr tour. We thought we'd have the option to stay the full day, which we did but had to pay for our own taxi back. Snorkeling was guided and was OK. We should have just gone on our own. Small pool area and tiny beach with just a few chairs. More chairs over where you enter to snorkel.

Overall we had a good time. We were on the Getaway last year at this time as well and enjoyed those stops over these. We had no issues on the ship, service or otherwise. We chose the last time to disembark. Line was very long getting off and took a little over an hour to get off the ship. I can try and attach MDR menus as well if anyone is interested in those.

Glad to hear you and your family had a great cruise. I would love to see your MDR menus. Thanks for your generous offer to post them :halo::cool:

My flight is about to take off so I'll try and get them posted this evening. As far as last year, Cozumel was the port that was the same, the others were different last year. In Cozumel we went to Mr. Sanchos last year and liked that better than Chankanaab.

I'm trying to get the menus uploaded. It's telling me the size is too large. I'll keep trying.

A few more details. We stayed in the Family Ocean view on deck 5. It had a two twins to make a king for my wife and I, fold out queen bed for my girls, and my son slept on the pullman bed. We don't spend much time in the cabin except for sleeping so it worked great for us. We were below the Atrium so we could hear music until around midnight but we brought a noisemaker and I had earplugs so we were fine, but I could see that being a problem for some.

Also, we tried the lobster rolls from Ocean Blue for lunch on the last sea day, they were excellent and worth the $10.

One other thing that some of you might now be aware of. We chose the $50 shore excursion credit as one of our free at sea promos. There were 4 ports and we did excursions at all of them so we had a $200 credit. I spoke to the onboard credit specialist in guest services about these on the 2nd day and she told me they couldn't be applied towards the service charges. If there was a credit left at the end of the cruise, they would send me a check. Well, we didn't use the $200 and on my final statement they were applied to my account reducing my out of pocket service charges fees. So not sure why I was told they couldn't be applied, but I was happy to see that they were.

Wow...I never heard this about the shore excursion credit. Has this happened to anyone else? We stay in the Haven and automatically receive the shore excursion credit (we would never choose it, since we prefer to do things on our own). If that does get refunded back to us, we might end up having a tidy sum at the end of the cruise (we have five ports on our next cruise and we already have $500 in non-refundable OBC).

I'm glad you enjoyed your cruise. We were on the Getaway at the end of February/beginning of March and had a very nice trip.
