Carnival behind the scenes - Recently the Cruise directors job was split into 2. creating an entertainment director, that is actually the cruise directors new boss, so that the cruise director can do less paperwork and spend more time with the guests. we talked to one of the new Entertainment directors to find out what this job entails.

I thought this change was implemented a couple of years ago, although I admittedly don't pay much attention to cruise or entertainment directors.

This was implemented in late 2014.

they are still rolling it out onto the ships, not all ships are split yet

Also of note: The Cruise Director & Assistant Cruise Director's positions were redone. The ACD position ceases to exist, the Cruise Director was to be more free to be on stage and in front of guests, and the Entertainment Director became the department head.
