sailing canary Posted December 26, 2017 #26 Share Posted December 26, 2017 Darwin has a very interesting WW2 guided tour. Did you know there were more bombs droppd on Darwin than Pearl Harbor? No I didn't either before we went.
diane.in.ny Posted December 26, 2017 #27 Share Posted December 26, 2017 For Rottnest Island; the Rottnest terminal is not even 10 min walking distance from the Cruise Terminal; and you can go straight to the counter and buy your ticket (including Bike Rentals). If you land by 8 am a departure at 9.30 am (if tickets are available) is possible; and if not Fremantle is a nice colonial town and Perth is reachable by train (King's Park above Down Town is something to visit; if you should have time) - for sure no reason to book a tour there I was looking at Rottnest. Seems like a coach tour might work for us. Not steady enough for bike riding anymore lol
Beejay4016 Posted December 27, 2017 #28 Share Posted December 27, 2017 While in Perth (Fremantle is the port for Perth), I recommend lunch at C Restaurant, a revolving restaurant in the city centre. The food is excellent, the service both professional and friendly, and you will be able to get a fantastic 360 degree view of Perth, which, despite having a population of just over 2 million, is a VERY spread-out city. Failing that, try for lunch in a restaurant in King's Park, a huge area of stunning parkland on a hill overlooking the city and river. You can easily get a hop-on/hop-off bus in the city that will drop you up the top of King's Park. And most important of all when going up there: don't forget the camera. The views are just beautiful. marphi Posted December 27, 2017 #29 Share Posted December 27, 2017 Both cities are lovely and there are free buses that go around the city centres of Perth and Fremantle, and stop off at points of interest around both of cities http://http://www.transperth.wa.gov.au/portals/0/asset/documents/tickets%20&%20fares/perth_cat_map_2013-2.pdf http://http://www.transperth.wa.gov.au/Timetables/CAT-Timetables#percat http://http://www.transperth.wa.gov.au/Timetables/CAT-Timetables#frecat http://http://www.transperth.wa.gov.au/timetablepdfs/Fremantle%20CAT%20Timetable%20204%2020160131.pdf
