cruisemein Posted April 24, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 24, 2017 Used to cruising out of Galveston, but I know it takes a while to get out of NOLA, heading down the MS river.
cajunfla Posted April 24, 2017 #2 Share Posted April 24, 2017 Should be open after leaving the dock. Harrah has a big casino right near the port. Gambling is legal in Louisiana.
adam3313 Posted April 24, 2017 #3 Share Posted April 24, 2017 Casino will open anywhere from 1-2 hours after pulling away. They are allowed to have it open while sailing down the river.
cmichael1279 Posted April 25, 2017 #4 Share Posted April 25, 2017 Don't quote me on it - but I'm pretty sure the casino on the Triumph opened shortly after muster, when I sailed last fall
Wheatie59 Posted April 25, 2017 #5 Share Posted April 25, 2017 Yep, opens not long after leaving port. And open on the way back, too. Not sure when they close it coming back.
jakeT Posted April 25, 2017 #6 Share Posted April 25, 2017 Just a few minutes after leaving dock, like 10 minutes.
Purvis1231 Posted April 25, 2017 #7 Share Posted April 25, 2017 The casino is open while coming and going on the river but if you win, you will pay Louisiana taxes.
cruisemein Posted April 25, 2017 Author #8 Share Posted April 25, 2017 Thanks for your responses...when you have a DOU card, the opening of the casino becomes important. Now, what's this I hear about a Louisiana Tax on winnings? If you just play blackjack I don't know how over a week's time they can keep up with that. Jwglenn25 Posted April 26, 2017 #9 Share Posted April 26, 2017 i have a question for you cruisemein, I'm sailing out of NOLA in a couple weeks, I have received the DOU card throughout a cruise before but never to start out. Is that a promotion that you were eligible for prior to sailing? Thanks
adam3313 Posted April 26, 2017 #10 Share Posted April 26, 2017 i have a question for you cruisemein, I'm sailing out of NOLA in a couple weeks, I have received the DOU card throughout a cruise before but never to start out. Is that a promotion that you were eligible for prior to sailing? Thanks I'll hop in here. When you earn a certain amount of points on your cruise (5000 for slots, unsure for tables) your offer will include the DOU card for the next cruise. Make sure you bring a copy of your letter that states this. When you board, the casino host should have your card ready and waiting. If they don't, show them the letter and they can look it up and give it to you. Good luck!
cruisemein Posted April 26, 2017 Author #11 Share Posted April 26, 2017 Adam3313 is correct, it came with the offer, I've never had a problem with getting the card from the casino host, but not a bad idea to bring the letter, just in case!
