Cristella Posted April 29, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 29, 2017 Hello, I am travelling with family of 3 adults and we have two separate staterooms and a specialty dining package included to use at 3 restaurants. I've logged onto my NCL account and looking at how to book restaurants for our cruise. Can one person make the dinner reservation for all passengers, or because we are in separate cabins do we need to make separate reservations? We were hoping to book a 6:30pm time slot, but many restaurants are showing 7 or 7:30pm times if I select a group of 3, whereas if I select a group of 2 or 1, more dinner times are available? So are we restricted to certain times as a group of 3? First time cruising so not sure how this all works, thanks :)

You appear to be within that 90 day window and early seats are sold out. Obviously, you can't put 3 people on a 2-seat table. So yes, you a restricted to times when there are table with 4 seats. You can try booking or changing as soon as you embark. NCL holds tables for on-board booking. But those will sell out during prime time dining very quickly. One person can book seats for all parties (regardless of room).

Rare KeithJenner Posted April 29, 2017 #4 Share Posted April 29, 2017 Tables for 3 are often quite restricted for online bookings. It usually isn't to do with lack of availability of tables with 4 seats as you will likely find better availability for 4 people. It's a system thing. If we find that we can't get availability for 3 people at the times we want then we usually make a reservation for 4 and then change it when we get onboard. There is no problem with you making the reservations to include the people in other cabins.

Thanks KeithJenner. Have you come across NCL trying to charge for the 4th unused seat? I just elsewhere on the forums that this happened to someone else... Also, does anyone know if I need to book reservations for the complimentary restaurants, Liberty and Skyline? For some reason I don't see Skyline as an option in the dining list... and which is nicer? Thanks

sanger727 Posted April 29, 2017 #7 Share Posted April 29, 2017 On our last cruise the pre-booking times were very restrictive. Only reservations for even numbers were available - so 2 or 4, and we also had a group of 3. And only dining times of 7:30 or 9:30. Both are late for us but we didn't want to feel stressed on the ship so we had reservations for 4 at 7:30 at 2 a la cartes and 2 set fee (moderno and teppanyaki) locations. We didn't worry about it the first day since the reservation table was slammed. The second day I went to see if we could move the reservations earlier and they were so booked up we left them at 7:30. We did mention to them that we had to make reservations for 4 and needed them for 3 and they did 'change' them for us. Didn't make any difference since groups of 3 always sit at 4 tops anyway and at teppanyaki the 4th seat went unfilled. And no, no one was annoyed or tried to charge us extra for doing it this way.
