euro cruiser Posted July 1, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 1, 2017 Breakfast is not a meal served in Italy, most people simply have coffee and a pastry.
cruising cockroach Posted July 1, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 1, 2017 A cup of hot chocolate at Tazza doro. Not sure if you can get anything to eat there. http://www.tazzadorocoffeeshop.com/ As said, latin countries (Italy, France, Spain) don't do breakfasts like in north america.hence the term "continental breakfast". I bought French guidebook for a recent trip to Québec and the emphasis was on the special breakfast a.k.a. brunch that the French seem to want but can't get at home. The Other Tom Posted July 2, 2017 #4 Share Posted July 2, 2017 Where is the best breakfast near the Pantheon? Are you staying in a hotel in Rome ? If so, your best breakfast bet is your hotel....probably a buffet. If you're doing Rome as an excursion, then your best bet is on the ship :)
Carolyn R Posted July 2, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 2, 2017 Find a bakery and enjoy a cappuccino and some Italian pastries. There are cafes and bakeries around every corner in Rome. I want to share the app that I found most helpful during my recent stay in Rome was "Around Me". It has a GPS and is fantastic in guiding you to touristic sites, ATMs/banks, pharmacies, supermarkets, taxis, hotels, etc.
euro cruiser Posted July 2, 2017 #6 Share Posted July 2, 2017 I have not been there but this place serves English and American breakfast starting at 7 AM. It's on Via ****onale, so it's a mile from the Pantheon. http://www.flannobrien.it/en/

I get my post-breakfast/mid-morning/hot afternoon espresso and caffe granita (with whip) at Tazza d' Oro! I honestly can't remember pastries there, though, but I can't imagine them not having at least a cornetto available at breakfast. Just remember to go to the cashier FIRST and pay for what you want, THEN take the receipt to the bar and wait for the barmen to take the receipt and do your coffee or hot chocolate or granita. HOWEVER, there is a wonderful pasticeria/salumeria right on the piazza at the Pantheon. If you are facing the Pantheon, standing at the fountain, it is on your right. I picked up yummy stuff from there at night, so a morning cornetto would be easily had there, I imagine.
