pamwinn Posted December 4, 2005 #27 Share Posted December 4, 2005 I just tried to get my post cruise room 6/17 and bid up to 70 with no luck. I'll try again in 72.
jensenbeach Posted December 4, 2005 #28 Share Posted December 4, 2005 Thanks PamWinn and CassCruise for your generous sharing of info. I just noticed that there is a new 4* hotel in the Surrey Langley area so I did not bid there. I will keep at it and hope for the best. :)
pamwinn Posted December 4, 2005 #29 Share Posted December 4, 2005 Hi jensenbeach, Where did you see that a 4-Star has been added? I just checked and am not seeing that? There is a 3-star in Surrey but only a 2 star in Langley. I think you are looking at the wrong screen. Dismiss the popup and you will see a page in your browser that says "select the areas where you want to stay". It is from there you check the star ratings in the areas. For example, click on only Surrey - Pitt Meadows. Then click next. That will take you to a page that shows 1,2,and 3 star hotels are available. Click the back button, and uncheck Surrey and check any ONE of the others. Click next, that will show you the star ratings in that area. Keep going back and select one area at a time until you have verified the star rating availability in each area. This will determine your free rebid zones. jensenbeach Posted December 4, 2005 #30 Share Posted December 4, 2005 Hi Pam - My screen shows the Sandman in Surrey Langley as a 4* hotel so I'm hesitant to check out that area. What do you show? Kathleen
grouchy Posted December 4, 2005 #31 Share Posted December 4, 2005 in the boonies. Not at all close to Vancouver or the Piers.Although a very nice area-some of it-I would not bid there.
pamwinn Posted December 4, 2005 #32 Share Posted December 4, 2005 I think you are looking at the screen that has a green line of text at the top, left that says name your own price. Once you click on that link, it opens the page I mentioned above. Try it and see, you do not have to risk anything. You can explore all you want as long as you don't click the buy button on the final confirmation page.
dawnskers Posted December 5, 2005 #33 Share Posted December 5, 2005 :( My highest bid was $86 per night, and I was turned down... Will have to wait 72 hours until I can try again, cuz I've used all the areas without 4 star hotels already. Thanks for the great hints though- maybe NEXT time! nancybee Posted December 7, 2005 #35 Share Posted December 7, 2005 Tonight I also just got The Westin Bayshore for May 14 on Priceline. 2 rooms for $60 each. I got it on my first bid. Thanks to all who helped!
pamwinn Posted December 7, 2005 #36 Share Posted December 7, 2005 Way to go! We are getting some good deals. I still have to get 6/1 and 6/17 and 6/18. I am hoping to get the same 60 dollar deal I got for 6/2. We have finally made the decision to fly RT to Vancouver and leave Seattle out of the loop so I can start bidding on those days as well. Everyone keep posting your experience so we can all get the best price possible.
Lynda90 Posted December 8, 2005 #37 Share Posted December 8, 2005 Thanks to CassCruise (Jane) and her great instructions, I also got the Bayshore Westin both pre and post cruise for $60 in Sept. 06.
lisaland15 Posted December 9, 2005 #38 Share Posted December 9, 2005 Me, my sister-in-law, brother-in-law, and my in-laws were all able to get rooms at the Westin Bayshore in June of 2006 for $60. Thanks!
dawnskers Posted December 10, 2005 #39 Share Posted December 10, 2005 Guess the Westin is booked up at the time we will be there- I finally got a $118 per night bid accepted at Pacific Palisades. Hope we will be happy there! Anyone familiar with using the City Passport savings book? It costs about $24 thru Priceline and gets you discounts for attractions and restaurants, etc; I'm thinking it's a pretty good deal if you use it. :)
pamwinn Posted December 10, 2005 #40 Share Posted December 10, 2005 Me, my sister-in-law, brother-in-law, and my in-laws were all able to get rooms at the Westin Bayshore in June of 2006 for $60. Thanks! Lisa, Can you tell me the days you bid for? dawnskers, I would like to stay in The Pacific Palisades. I've read some good reviews. I think you will be happy. I still have 3 more dates to bid on and I'm not hitting the Westin for 60$ either. I got it for 6/2 but couldn't get it for 6/1. I am also bidding on 6/17 and 6/18 and haven't had any luck. When I checked those dates through other websites, they are showing as unavailable.

I got it for 6/2 but couldn't get it for 6/1. . Pam - this may be a long shot but there is a part of Priceline's website that has FAQs. Click Help and there is this info: ============== Can I add nights to my hotel reservation? If you used our Name Your Own Price ® hotel service for your hotel reservation, you have two options: you can use our Shop & Compare option to book additional nights; or you can click on the link below and we?ll search your originally booked hotel for the additional nights you need if the option exists based on availability. We will book your additional nights as a new reservation and charge the credit card you originally used for the cost of the additional nights requested plus Taxes and Service Fees. The number of additional nights you request cannot exceed the number of nights in your original reservation and you may only add nights to the beginning or end of your stay. The option to add additional nights to an existing priceline hotel reservation is only available if all of the following apply: your original priceline reservation was made less than 30 days ago; your total stay does not exceed 21 nights; you make your request before midnight eastern time the night before your check-in date; you have not already requested additional nights for this trip; and the hotel you are holding a reservation with allows priceline to make reservations for additional nights. Remember, additional hotel room nights reserved through priceline cannot be changed or cancelled by priceline or the hotel that accepts your request. pamwinn Posted December 10, 2005 #42 Share Posted December 10, 2005 I am scared. I can't tell if they are going to add the additional night at the same price or the current rack rate. Do you know?
Rare Coral Posted December 10, 2005 #43 Share Posted December 10, 2005 I am scared. I can't tell if they are going to add the additional night at the same price or the current rack rate. Do you know? I assume they check to see if the hotel will take your original bid for the night before but I have never done it. I know others who have and they did this option as opposed to rebidding to insure that they got the same hotel for both nights. Sorry - I think it would be the same price but can't tell you for sure. c-legs Posted December 11, 2005 #44 Share Posted December 11, 2005 :) Good evening, I wouldn't bother with that '' passport'' thing....a lot of $$ for what you can get out of it. Only good if you're in Vancouver with 7-10 days or so.... Tremendously easy city to get around in, without a car. A good city guide, and you're set.!!! Welcome to Vancouver ( yes, you guessed right....I'm a biased Vancouverite ....) CG ;) Guess the Westin is booked up at the time we will be there- I finally got a $118 per night bid accepted at Pacific Palisades. Hope we will be happy there! dderm Posted December 11, 2005 #45 Share Posted December 11, 2005 Me, my sister-in-law, brother-in-law, and my in-laws were all able to get rooms at the Westin Bayshore in June of 2006 for $60. Thanks! Hi, Lisa! After seeing this thread, we tried priceline for the first time and got the Westin Bayshore for $60, too! (I just love getting a "deal":D ). We paid nearly $200 US two years ago for this same hotel. What ship are you on? -Rosemary
pamwinn Posted December 11, 2005 #46 Share Posted December 11, 2005 I sent an email to priceline customer service to determine the rate for adding an additional night to a reservation and below is the response. Hopefully, this will help any of you considering the same thing. I'll just keep bidding. It doesn't really matter much to me if I have to change hotels as that will prevent me from getting too unpacked before the cruise. Dear Pam, Thank you for taking the time to send us an e-mail. We understand that you would like to add a night to your reservation. However, you would like to know whether you need to pay the rate at which you had reserved your reservation or at the rack rate. Please note that the rate for the additional nights may not be the same as what you paid originally and availability is not guaranteed. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope this information is helpful to you. Sincerely, Lata B. Customer Service Specialist
Arlenedow Posted December 11, 2005 #47 Share Posted December 11, 2005 I just got the Westin Bayshore for $60 for one night, June 17, 2006 on Priceline. This was my first Priceline experience and I followed the advice on this board and Biddingfortravel. Started at $50, $55 and bingo at $60!!:D Their internet rate for Seniors is $220 US dollar. Thank you everybody!!:D Arlene
Rare Coral Posted December 11, 2005 #48 Share Posted December 11, 2005 Pam - good thing you checked! That is not the answer I expected.
pamwinn Posted December 12, 2005 #49 Share Posted December 12, 2005 Yeah me too. Earlier, I tried again to get the 6/1 and then tried 6/17 and 6/18. Since Arlenedow hit on 6/17, I guess it's because I am trying to get both days that is causing the problem. Sooner or later, some of the other hotels are going to open up and I don't really care where I stay as long as it's 4 star and very, very, very clean. Of course, that doesn't include the Pan Pacific but I don't see that happening...though I keep checking Hotwire. I'd probably toss my 6/2 room at the Westin if I could land the PP. Rare many cruises Posted December 13, 2005 #50 Share Posted December 13, 2005 Thanks to everyone on these boards, I got the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver for $60.00 on July 15, 2006 on Priceline.
