Received an email today that is good news for cruisers out of Galveston. Quote:

Galveston tourism has made afull return to business with the reopening of the Galveston Railroad Museum.All Galveston beaches and major attractions are now open. In addition, 98% of businesses in historic downtown Galveston have reopened since the storm,.

This is great news and shoes how human efforts can make headway against even a 1000 year storm.

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't believe any of the hotels in Galveston were effected by the storm. Many of them are being used for temporary housing for evacuees from the surrounding areas that received more damage than Galveston.

 

You are correct, I live about 15 minutes from the cruise terminal and 20 minutes from the Seawall and beach. We got lot of rain and wind, but not anywhere close to what Houston got. I have been into Galveston several times after Harvey and all the roads are clear and cannot even tell a storm came thru. None of the hotels were flooded that I have heard about. All is back to normal.
