Hi all. We are going on the Sun Princess feb 6th and wonder if by some crazy luck we have US cash left at the end of the 10 days can we apply that cash to the balance on our ship cards?? And then the remainder on our credit card. We are canadian and the exchange is GREAT right now so we are buying US $$ ahead of time.

Thanks so much!

Tell the purser when checking in that you will settle with credit card. DO NOT mention this cash option.

Then the morning of the last full day (if you can) go up and say 'I want to pay $$$ to my account in cash' and it should be no trouble. LEAVE the credit card on file .. just put a credit onto the account in cash.

Some lines (Cunard) says pax can pay with cash .. tho they require like $300 per pax 'deposit' and then a constant debit balance be maintained on all pax accounts. Should one pax go negative, I am not sure what you have to top up the account to . but guarantee with the Credit card is by far the simplest.

Other hint .. STAY out of the casinos so yo will have some cash left!

We paid some cash half way through our 10 day cruise. I took enough in U.S.D. to cover the tips and more ...we did spend more in the casino than we had planned so the CC got a small charge! ;)

Buy while the rate are down!:)

thanks to everyone for your thoughts on this. We for sure will do the credit card option on checking in....and any cash paid would only be if we had enough left for it to really matter. I wouldn't want to waste any precious vacation time standing in a line to save just a few bucks;)

And we will try to avoid the casino!!! that is great advise...will pass on to the hubbie:)

"..have a cup of coffee at the airport or eat, that takes care of "leftover money"

That reminds me of my friend and I coming home from our first trip to England many years ago. We were in the airport and wanted to get rid of our change, so decided to buy something at the snack counter. We were standing there, trying to figure out what we could buy without going over our "limit" of change we had left when a nice gentleman came up behind us and asked, very concerned, "Do you girls need money?" We were so embarrassed, but still laugh about it.

:)
