portico Posted September 30, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 30, 2017 Since this is our first river cruise after loving every adventure while ocean cruising, we were wondering if there is any special "to do" over Halloween. As on ocean cruises, do those on river cruises bring along costumes or other little indicators such as wearing orange to highlight the American celebration? Also, is it juvenile to decorate our cabin door with easy peel-off fall foliage? ;p
Rare Got2Cruise Posted October 1, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 1, 2017 I seriously doubt anyone will be bringing a costume. And nobody will be decorating their cabin doors either. River cruising is nothing like ocean cruising. Much more subdued. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
pacmom Posted October 1, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 1, 2017 When traveling during a holiday celebrated in the US, I always bring a shirt and/or a scarf to wear on the day. It is your vacation, if you want to decorate your door, go for it. when we were in China with Viking we really celebrated Halloween. The hotel manager , a good friend of ours, decided to let the crew experience this holiday. He had masks and favors for guests and crew. Definitely a fun way to celebrate and explain our customs. Also was on a cruise that celebrated Canada Day. Ditto for our July 4th and St. Patrick's day. Enjoy, but be careful river cruising can be addictive. Number 24 in Dec. and 25 and 26 booked for next year.. Pat
arima22 Posted October 1, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 1, 2017 We were on a Viking Budapest to Amsterdam cruise Oct./Nov. 2015. Nothing special done for Halloween. Just Fall decorations, mainly in the dinning room.
