tromvest Posted October 24, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 24, 2017 We will be on the Solstice in November sailing from Australia to New Zealand. Does the atm onboard the ship dispense both Australian Dollars and New Zealand Dollars? Thank you!!
Mr&MrsCookie Posted October 24, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 24, 2017 The ATM is USD only.
Beanb41 Posted October 25, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 25, 2017 During your travels around both NZ and Australia you will find ATMs at nearly every high Street Trading Banks and in most shopping malls. YOu should have no issue getting money. I would however suggest that perhaps you get $A100 and $NZ100 before leaving home in ordr to ensure that you have local currency before finding an ATM

The exchange rates aren't the best - but if you're only buying $50 or $100 it's not a huge effect, and if you pay conversion fees from an ATM on your US account are probably similar anyway. Plus you can then buy at your convenience onboard instead of having to search out an ATM and take valuable shore time up, especially if working to a tour itinerary. tromvest Posted October 25, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted October 25, 2017 We were hoping there would be an ATM dispensing AUD and NZD not just USD. When we sailed to Europe there were two ATMS onboard, one for euros and one for US dollars.
TeeRick Posted October 25, 2017 #6 Share Posted October 25, 2017 On Europe sailings the ATM in the casino is often dispensing euro's while the ATM in guest services USD. Not sure if that happens in AUS/NZ cruises but we leave on one next March so it would be good to know. We will likely use our debit card on shore but some are worried about the security risk. If that is the case travel with a few prepaid credit or debit cards. VISA has them. The fee to purchase one is probably like the fee for Traveler's checks which really have been replaced by these prepaid cards and you will get the best exchange rate when using them with no additional fees. They are protected against theft/fraud.
