Tin can Posted November 15, 2017 #26 Share Posted November 15, 2017 We were on Anthem in 2015 when she was first deployed out of Southampton. I could get Youtube, Twitter and all the BBC websites without having a package just by connecting. Lots of sites wouldn't load but obviously the 'leak' for certain ones hasn't been plugged then! allentownahoy Posted November 16, 2017 #27 Share Posted November 16, 2017 Thanks for this explanation. I have got it now. No special appWhen you send a text message, it is either sent as iMessage or SMS (cellular text service). Assuming you have iMessage turned on in your settings, if it is with another Apple device it will be iMessage. If it is with a non-Apple device it will be SMS. Look at your messages. If your sent messages are blue, it’s iMessage. If they are green, it’s SMS Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
bob brown Posted November 16, 2017 #28 Share Posted November 16, 2017 Years ago, I was able to use the ship's 'internet cafe', and by using the ship's free RCI site, and going to certain pages, found that I was able to get to 'Google' without logging on to any package....that ddn't last too long...they have long 'fixed' that freebie... Another former 'freebie' I have heard of, was if you had a 3G enabled Kindle, you were able to use the rudimentary web browser on your Kindle, free of charge, even if you were not logged onto a date plan at sea...good enough at least to get your emails. I believe it went thru the AT&T data network....I also think that has long ended....
