VitaminCruise Posted November 15, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 15, 2017 I am looking at doing a river cruise on Uniworld with my kids (9,11) on one of their family friendly sailings (Generations Collection). I am just curious if anyone has done the family friendly cruises and what their experience was.
philw1776 Posted November 15, 2017 #2 Share Posted November 15, 2017 Thinking about doing the same thing but with teenagers who speak French and take AP History. Not sure a cruise with small kids would be suitable.
Rare Roz Posted November 15, 2017 #3 Share Posted November 15, 2017 I'm looking at p. 42 of Uniworld's 2018 cruise brochure, and the generational cruises appear VERY kid friendly to me. Among other things, there will be 2 dedicated Family Hosts for age groups 4-12 and 13-17. There are other Special Generations amenities. Obviously Uniworld thinks it's suitable for "small kids". Not sure a cruise with small kids would be suitable. Phil, You'd probably be fine doing a regular cruise, with teens. On our Uniworld Rhine cruise, we had a 13 yo and 16 yo, and they found plenty to do, and weren't bored at all. If you choose one of the SS vessels, there will be an indoor pool, were they to be interested. We loved our Paris-Normandy cruise, and feel teens would, as well. We are doing the Provence cruise in the spring, and from my research, feel teens would enjoy that one, as well. Happy planning! Robin
Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted November 15, 2017 #5 Share Posted November 15, 2017 Thinking about doing the same thing but with teenagers who speak French and take AP History. Not sure a cruise with small kids would be suitable. Our AMA Rhone cruise had a Road Scholar group on board. They got their own shore excursions, plus lectures about history etc. on board. That might appeal to your AP scholars [despite the obvious age difference, Road Scholar being the former 'elder hostel']

philw1776 Posted November 20, 2017 #9 Share Posted November 20, 2017 Would love to read your take. Congrats for giving them a memorable experience. I would have been too immature at 12 to have appreciated it.
