Restaurant / Pub recommendation around Surrey hills / China town

Any favourite places for dinner $$ staying at Rydges Sydney Central pre cruise. We like all types of food. Rydges Hotel has a restaurant but mixed reviews. We don't really know Sydney at all. It will be a long day on the train from Coffs so just want something close.

Siam House in Campbell St (over the road from the Capitol Theatre) has very nice Thai food at very reasonable prices.
