Excursions to Berlin via Train

Hello all- I have tried searching many different places across the internet and have not found what I am looking for.

Does anyone know of any private tours that go from Warnemunde to Berlin via the train? The ship has an excursion like this but is very expensive, and I have found several that go by van or bus, but none that go by train. Thanks for any help!

Have you thought about starting a tour in Berlin? If you are taking the train it isn't really necessary to have someone escort you the whole way. In fact you could organize your own tour with guides at key museums. Some of the Berlin Wall and historical sights would usefully be seen with a guide but otherwise taxis or even Berlin's excellent public transport system would work between sights.

it wouldn't be possible to have a private tour by train as company would have to charter the whole train as the ships excursions do

taking train by yourself from Warnemunde to Berlin and meeting guide there doesn't work due to times ship in port if you haven't got an overnight stop there

the train requires a change in Rostock and high speed trains between there and Berlin are either too early or later ones would not give you enough time in Berlin before having to head back

that is why private tours such as SPB use a bus to get direct from Warnemunde to Berlin-takes about 2 ours with rest stop on motorway

we had 3 parties ours with 12 a family of 4 and a larger party of 20

when we got to Berlin we were split into our groups and smaller vans for our tour before we all met up again for trip back to port in large bus

It was a long day but saw highlights of Berlin

next year we are embarking in Warnemunde so we can spend a few days pre cruise I Berlin then have a train journey at our own pace day before cruise to the port

mlockhart, What you're asking for doesn't exist in a strict sense of your wording. I am an adventurous sort, but ONLY when necessary. Personally, I would never hassle with Train stations for a mere day in Berlin...too much wasted time and walking. Motorcoach R/T to Berlin on German Autobahn with a nap on the way back?? Ja.

I am researching the same situation. We will be on the Viking Star this summer and the 'Included" excursion for the Warnemunde port IS the train to Berlin. I hear it leaves between 6 and 630 am. I was planning on hiring a guide for a group of 4-8 and have them meet us at the train station and proceed by foot or public transport from there and finish up mid afternoon in time to catch the afternoon train back.

Does anyone see a logistic problem with this?
