englander Posted January 6, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2018 What's the difference between 2nd and 1st class on the train from Centraal Station to Schipol Airport? On the train's website it says it's only a 13-17 min ride. When we get to the airport where would we go to find our hotel shuttle? We are staying at a small hotel, Tulip Inn Amsterdam Airport. Tiggertastic Posted January 6, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 6, 2018 We paid 2nd and sat in the seats in the lobby entrance so we could keep the cases with us. For such a short journey the fold down seats were perfect Sent from my iPad using Forums
Ine Posted January 7, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 7, 2018 2nd class is ok, most of the train is 2nd class anyway. Stay with your luggage at all times. In rushhours trains may be busy and pickpockers love that.. On the webste of the hotelshuttles you find details where to go.https://www.schipholhotelshuttle.nl/service
IndyCapt Posted January 10, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 10, 2018 On a somewhat related topic, regarding public transportation options while visiting Amsterdam, I found on Holland.com the tickets for unlimited use of metro, trams, ferries for 1,2,3 days etc. It talks about taking your confirmation email to Schipol airport plaza (?) when you arrive to redeem for your actual tickets...since we arrive via cruise ship, am I understanding correctly that this requires a trip out to the airport if we want to take advantage of these type tickets? Seems like there would be other locations to take care of this. Anyone familiar with this process? Ine?...thanks!

The one you mention is incl. one or more museums. According their website there are pickupoints also on Damrak, which is easier to get to then the airport. Check here: https://hollandpass.com/shipping-collect However accoring this website this more or less the same pass can be collected at Centraal Station, even more close to the cruiseterminal: https://www.iamsterdam.com/en/i-am/i-amsterdam-city-card/order-your-card I know the Amsterdam tourist office often has a booth inside the cruise terminal, so maybe you can arrange it there too. There also is a pass is for public transport only, and another one incl. some regions around AmsterdamZaanse Schans etc. , https://en.gvb.nl/ontdek-amsterdam
jshli Posted January 10, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 10, 2018 We are staying at the Marriott and are interested in purchasing a 3 day travel card online before we arrive. Picking it up at the airport is not feasible and we will not be near Central Station and am wondering is there anywhere near our hotel that we can pick up our cards using the voucher? If not, do we have any options to purchase, once we arrive?

I think we're looking for public transport only, so that 3rd link is the way we'll go. Looks like you can pick up the tickets in one of their locations right across from the Central Station. Do you see any big advantage with buying tickets in advance online or is it just as easy to buy in person once we arrive?...thanks again! Also, how far is the cruise terminal from Central Station? Buy them local once you are there. Maybe you can buy them in the tourism office booth that often is within the cruise terminal. Central Station is a 10/15 minute walk west from the cruiseterminal. Tramnr. 2 with direction Centraal Station, just 1 or 2 stops. Check B5 in this map. https://www.amsterdam.info/print/map/
