ezridermn Posted January 16, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2018 We are going on an Alaskan cruise. Our ship is the Princess Golden Princess. They offer two early sitting tranditional dining times. One is at 5:30pm and the other is at 6:00pm. I requested the 6pm seating and have been put on a waitlist. I have tried to find out if there is a difference between a 5:30pm sitting and a 6:00pm sitting other than the timing. I'm wondering if maybe the seatings are in different dining rooms or in some other way there is a difference beyond the time of the sitting. Your help is appreciated! zogrand Posted January 16, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 16, 2018 The two seatings are in two different dining rooms. Usually the dining room with the earlier seating changes to ATD after that one seating. There are 3 dining rooms. The room with the 6pm seating stays traditional. Meal choices are the same in all 3. The 3rd dining room is ATD all evening.

FritzG Posted January 16, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 16, 2018 However, when you board you may well find that the times are not what you were guaranteed. On our last 6 cruises we were confirmed for 6pm dining, and it was changed to 5:30 or 5:45 every time. Passenger Services said it was up to the maitre d', the Generoso said it was up to Corporate, and the Captain's Circle hostesss said she'd check it out and let us know. She never did, and no one has ever given us a straight answer.

How true...also there may only be one early traditional dining and those signed up for 5:30 and 6:00 may find it is actually 5:15..ran into this last cruise (not on the Golden). satxdiver Posted January 16, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 16, 2018 Our last AK cruise on the Ruby in July 2017 we signed up for the 6:00 PM TD. Dinner was actually at 5:30 PM in the aft deck 6 MDR. Others have reported the same time and place on other cruises so it appears the 6:00 PM TD is actually 5:30 PM. The aft deck 6 MDR is TD the entire evening.
